Elite manufacturing client East of Dayton is seeking a dynamic person with a background in purchasing/supply chain and a genuine desire to satisfy customer needs and improve the market position of the company to serve in the position of Purchasing Supervisor, reporting to the Supply Chain Manager. The Purchasing Supervisor will be responsible for three (3) buyers; (2) technical and (1) MRO. There is occasional over-night travel, but less than 10%. Some travel could include international, to Germany and/or China. The Purchasing Supervisor will manage the purchasing staff and all purchasing functions within the local facility. The main responsibility of this position is to support our manufacturing process by safeguarding continuity of materials supply and quality while achieving cost reduction goals. This position also acts as a primary liaison between our client and its suppliers, both domestic and international. The Purchasing Supervisor will interact with Engineering, Materials Control, Finance, and vendors & suppliers.

Job Requirements

REQUIREMENTS: A four-year degree in a technical or business discipline with a minimum of five years purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment is required. Candidates with offshore purchasing experience and a background in metal machining, castings, and fabrication will be given priority. Candidates must have strong problem solving skills, be very detail oriented and well organized with a keen sense of urgency and accuracy. Candidates also must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as outstanding negotiation skills and excellent analytical ability. Experience with ERP systems and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word applications is required. Past experience with supplier management is also a requirement. In addition, should be able to read technical blue prints and communicate technical information with vendors. Multi-lingual would be an added bonus: German, Spanish or Chinese. Qualified candidate would be required to pass a drug test and criminal background check.
