Working Independently

An associate working in strategic sourcing will be expected to produce high quality work with minimal to infrequent direct supervision, while meeting the timelines of assignments.  The associate must be able to create channels of support independently of a team environment when necessary.

Communication is the foundation for success in this role.  Superb communication quality, frequency, accuracy, and timeliness are assumptions for someone working in a consulting role.  This applies to both project deliverables and the needs of the strategic sourcing program leadership for both written and in person communication.

Meeting the Needs of Separate Parties

An associate successfully serving in the capacity of a strategic sourcing resource must be able to balance and meet the needs of both the ministry receiving services and the leadership of the strategic sourcing program.  This dual reporting relationship is different from other roles.  Meeting the needs of multiple parties simultaneously is required to be successful.

Travel for the AHIS associate serving can and will frequently be 80%.  A consultant will be asked to do this to maximize the time on location when needed at the local ministry.  Intense weekly travel will be necessary with many projects for extended periods of time.

Establishing relationships with local leadership teams will require an ability to be both flexible and adaptive when on assignment.  A successful candidate working as a strategic sourcing associate will excel at communication, the ability to self-direct and execute, and an ability to cope with the challenges of intense periods of travel.

Conduct and interactions with local ministries must be executed in a way that not only build confidence in the local project and project team, but in the capabilities of AHIS to operate successfully at the national level.  The professional behavior of a strategic sourcing resource must match and exceed the large responsibility of working virtually, and in person, across the nation with little supervision.

Special Knowledge

Serving as a consultant requires not only expert knowledge in the applications, implementation, and workflows of clinical systems.  A successful candidate will know how to research and present knowledge back to project teams and project leaders.  The ability to synthesize information from multiple sources of data to create new knowledge will be frequently required.
