This position is for a Senior Server Engineer to join the Epicor Hosted Products team. This team is responsible for the support and operation of Epicor’s customer facing Software as a Service (SaaS) and custom hosting products. The engineer will be responsible for troubleshooting complex issues and making recommendations for improving the environment.
The environment consists primarily of Linux and Solaris servers, with a smaller number of AIX and HP-UX machines. Oracle RAC, Veritas Cluster Suite and Redhat Cluster Suite are prominent, along with Apache/iPlanet, Weblogic/Tomcat running our SaaS offerings. Experience with EMC, 3Par, NetBackup, StorageTek and Brocade products is a plus.
The engineer will also work with other staff engineers and product development teams to design and implement environments for new and existing customers as appropriate. The engineer will be expected to implement large portions of these environments in coordination with the project management team and their own management chain.
- Perform tasks utilizing existing processes and established techniques.
- Monitor systems using monitoring tools, react to alarms, and troubleshoot issues.
- Create and update service tickets.
- Clearly articulate problems and symptoms when escalating issues to other teams.
- Perform various systems and network maintenance tasks.
- Implement approved hardware and software solutions into the managed environments to meet customer needs
- Clearly document maintenance and support procedures
