Job Description

We are currently seeking an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) Registered Nurse to join our Surgery Center team!

The ASC Registered Nurse (RN) will have experience in delivering excellent service to physicians and patients and participating in high-performing teams. Must exemplify our organization’s values of Quality, Teamwork, Service and Community. The RN has technical expertise in orthopedic peri-operative nursing and clinical care. The RN is expected to work in a primary nursing area for the center. The RN is able to function as a team member in an ASC environment through cross-training to other primary areas including but not limited to assisting with turnover, and all other aspects of day-to-day ASC operations. He/she is also responsible for the coordination of the telephone pre-admission assessment process for patients in the ASC environment.

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Education Requirements

The following qualifications are the minimum necessary to adequately perform this job. However, any equivalent combination of experience, education and training which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities would be acceptable, subject to any legal and/or regulatory requirements.

Education required:

•         Must be a graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.

Experience required:

•         One year of ASC, PACU or Operating room experience

Professional license or certification requirements

•         RN with active NC state license. Certification in Orthopedics preferred.

•         BLS, PALS, ACLS certification.



Additional Skills/Requirements required:

Must have a thorough understanding of role of RN and ability to carry out the functions as stated in the NC nurse practice act.  Ability to set priorities and organize workload of unit.  Has knowledge and skills necessary to modify care according to patient’s age.  Has the ability to interpret information to identify each patient’s requirements for care relative to his/her age specific needs.  Proficient in telephone screening and interviewing skills.  Ability to identify an emergency situation and act upon to ensure patient safety.

Cross-trained across PACU and OR
