As a Middleware Engineer, and based out of Philadelphia PA
, you will join PNC's Information Technology group and will be instrumental in helping to maintain PNC's reputation for technology excellence in both business applications and new innovations.
You will be integral in the consumer lending systems modernization efforts, transforming legacy mainframe systems to new, industry leading platforms. As part of this initiative an Enterprise Service Bus architecture will be leveraged to integrate our old and new platforms, transforming data to support business and operational processes.
Responsibilities include designing, developing, middleware applications, in a mainframe, Windows, UNIX, and LINUX Technology space. Duties include the installation, tuning and maintenance of middleware applications in both development and production environments while working closely with the architecture team and other critical application development and test teams to troubleshoot and optimize service environments. The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in an IT-related field
Equivalent experience would be acceptable in lieu of education
4-7 years related experience. Preferred Experience:
Provides subject matter expertise (SME) on Integration Bus, MQ, Message Broker and WebSphere architecture, designs and implementations of new projects and deliverables.
Proficient in evaluating, installing, upgrading, configuring, and maintaining various Integration Bus, WebSphere, Message Broker and MQ environments used by the enterprise.
Plans for migration to future versions of any relevant products in the technology stack.
Monitors performance and provides ongoing configuration and tuning adjustments. Build scripts for task
automation, builds support, scheduling and file clean up. Configures connections to external data sources.
Troubleshoots problems related to web architecture and applications in conjunction with development teams. Identifies and maintains metrics on system and application performance. Analyzes data and resolves any issues indicated by the metrics; pinpoints bottlenecks. Assists with capacity planning.
Assists with design of logical and physical instances, clusters, nodes, load balancing, capacity planning, plug-ins, URLs, and SSL certificates.
Provides analytical support to development projects and the maintenance of existing applications and interacts with business unit application owners to resolve performance and end-user issues, possibly on-call.
Collaborates with development teams and architects to help design application architectures based on the WebSphere platform and to set standards and best practices.
Collaborates with operating system and database administrators to define platform requirements, measure performance, carry out capacity planning, define and carry out security standards.
H ands-on systems programming/scripting experience with Middleware products.
Strong verbal and written communications skills
Must have the ability to interact with all levels of management and teams
