Job Description

Posting Note: Physician Assistant duties will consist of first assisting surgeons in the operating room, pre-operative preparation, post-operative management of surgical patients, and will be part of a rotating call coverage for emergent cases. PA will help in the outpatient clinic setting, with post-operative vists and assisting surgeons with new consults. PA will work alongside CVICU team members to cover surgical issues when necessary. ~IND

This position performs healthcare tasks delegated by the supervising doctor and demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and also possesses ability to assess data reflective of patient’s status and appropriately interpret information relative to patients age-specific needs.

Position Duties

1. Uses advanced clinical knowledge to conduct thorough physical assessments, including human response to illness, functional abilities, developmental stage, family, and community resources.
2. Collaborates and consults with the patient, significant others, and the healthcare team in providing patient care; coordinates and integrates health care, making appropriate referrals to systems, agencies, and providers for specialized patient needs.
3. Accurately synthesizes assessment data to determine the patient diagnoses.
4. Develops an individualized multidisciplinary plan of care that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes.Evaluates patients' progress toward attainment of outcomes.
5. Appropriately uses quality, satisfaction, and cost data to modify patient care.
6. Facilitates staff development and education.
7. Provides culturally sensitive care.
8. Recognizes age specific growth and development of the patient population served and assessed; treats and cares for those specific age groups.
9. Skillfully implements the interventions identified in the multidisciplinary plan of care.
10. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.

Job Requirements

Education Requirements
  • Graduate from an approved CAAHEP university program (Required)
Experience Requirements
  • Two (2) or more years of clinical experience (Preferred)
Certification/License/Registry Requirements
  • Arizona Regulatory Board of Physician Assistants license (Required)
  • Current ACLS and/or PALS from the American Heart Association as required by department (Required)
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (Required)
  • Current DEA certificate in prescribing and dispensing privileges in AZ as required by department (Required)
  • Current NCCPA certificate (Required)
