TITLE: Application Developer: Oracle Database
The application has an Oracle DB, a Windows application server with batch files/scripts executed by Control-M. The application is a fat client-server application accessed via Citrix. It is a web application that runs in a Windows environment, using flat files on the Windows server.
Provide application support, implement vendor software patches, engage in testing, work with DBAs, Windows and Citrix engineers to resolve application configuration and security issues. There will also be interaction with end business users for coordinating testing and issue resolution.
Make coding changes to C scripts and unit test
Request changes to Control-M jobs and unit test
Download vendor software patches, run SQL to implement, test, migrate to higher environments
Implement and debug vendor .net software application using Apache and Tomcat
Research Oracle DB access issues, determine required DB access rights, request and test
Coordinate testing with business users in Citrix and Windows batch environments
Research application and data issues, using PL-SQL to research and resolve
Work with Windows and Citrix engineers, Oracle DBAs to install software, DB Roles, server and shared folder access, test and resolve application issues tied to infrastructure.
The critical skills for supporting these applications are:
Knowledge of Oracle DBs (version 11g preferred), including in-depth knowledge of standard Oracle DB security roles, PL-SQL for querying DB and for software configuration. Knowledge of Oracle forms is helpful, but not required, as there is no development activity in Oracle forms.
Experience supporting vendor software packages; applying, testing and implementing vendor software releases and patches
C scripting experience
Control-M jobs and job scheduling experience preferred, but supporting batch processing using any batch job scheduling software will suffice
Experience supporting a Windows Web application and use of Apache, Tomcat or other standard web application management tools in Windows environment; with knowledge of a firm-wide standard single sign-on tool such as Siteminder highly beneficial
Experience in a large, controlled environment that follows standard practices for change management and control, including tools such as Subversion (SVN) for source code versioning and change management
Please do not send candidates whose primary experience is DBA work or primarily development of Oracle stored procedures, packages and triggers. Oracle experience is valued highly, but must be combined with knowledge of other technologies specified, i.e., applications that have an Oracle back end, but also have a front end user interface and batch processing.Key Skills:
1. 5+ years experience in Oracle DB environment (Oracle 10i, 11i, Oracle PL-SQL) with Oracle PL-SQL, including experience with vendor software support
2. Batch jobs/batch interface files (C scripts, Oracle scripts)
6. Windows (Wintel)
7. Vendor applications
