Job Description

The Jackson Laboratory has immediate career opportunities for Animal Technician Trainees in our Sacramento, CA facility.  Animal Technician Trainees work under relatively close supervision and will have extensive training to learn the principles and practices for basic animal husbandry including colony maintenance, animal room maintenance & operations, and record keeping.  Animal Technician Trainees are responsible for demonstrating proficiency in all aspects of the technician curriculum while learning objectives and practical performance standards to become a fully functional animal technician.

Job Requirements

Candidates must be detail oriented, organized, a self starter, motivated to adhere to quality standards, tenacious aptitude for learning basic genetics, and have an aptitude for learning basic mouse anatomy. Proficiency with English (reading/writing), good penmanship, ability to decipher characters, letters & numbers with ease are required. A basic knowledge of computer skills preferred. Candidates must have strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a fast paced, team oriented environment.Required Experience

Successful applicants must have a minimum of HS diploma or GED and prior work experience.
