Job Description

Parmatech Corporation based in East Providence, RI, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of ATW Companies. Along with its sister company in Petaluma, CA, they are leading suppliers of custom manufactured metal injection molding components. The East Providence location was formed from the acquisition of a Metal Injection Molding (MIM) business of Morgan Advanced Ceramics, based in New Bedford, Massachusetts. MIM is a low cost, high volume manufacturing process that produces parts to near net shape, reducing or eliminating the need for secondary and machining operations. Through proprietary process and material technology, Parmatech provides a robust set of solutions to meet the challenges of their customers around the world. Developed from over thirty-five years of operational experience, Parmatech's unique set of tools provide solutions to even the most demanding MIM applications. Solutions include identifying prototyping needs, rapid prototyping, alloy development, metrology assistance, and identification and managing complex secondary operations. Parmatech is planned to double in revenue by the end of 2018.

The Process Engineer has direct responsibility for developing, improving, and maintaining the processes of the powder metal and debinding furnaces in manufacturing to ensure proper product functionality as well as cost efficiency. They will work cohesively with Project Engineers and Manufacturing, as well as other departments including Production and Quality in addition to interfacing with key suppliers.

Job Requirements


  • Maintain furnace process stability by monitoring metrics and control levels (utilize statistical tools to make decisions and plan changes)
  • Initiate short- and long-term solutions to improve overall furnace processes
  • Understand and monitor furnace control technology and equipment
  • Troubleshoot furnace process issues and implement corrective actions
  • Performs engineering changes in alignment with internal quality requirements
  • Research furnace problems, design and monitor tests, develop corrective actions
  • Establish and manage equipment supplier and service provider relationships
  • Maintains and revises Engineering Documents and Work Instructions as required
  • Trains all supervisory personnel in the proper use and operation of manufacturing equipment and processes
  • Designs manufacturing equipment and tooling
  • Establishes, modifies, implements, and monitors systems and procedures
  • Work with production lead operators to improve manufacturing efficiencies and output
  • Interact with all support systems pertinent to furnace operations such as environmental engineering, gas suppliers and maintenance personnel
  • Manage expectations, provide collaborative feedback, coaching, and mentoring • Performs other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or equivalent in related environment.
  • Minimum 3 years Process Engineering experience
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the asic principles, theories, concepts, and practices in furnace technology and/or thermal processing
  • Good understanding of metals-forming technologies, with exposure to powder metallurgy, casting, and/or injection molding technologies
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow
  • Analytical skills to troubleshoot furnace process changes (electrical, mechanical)
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards
  • Creative, flexible, and innovative team player
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Solid English language skills – both written and oral
  • Basic understanding of statistical methods
