Drive manufacturing process practices across the sector through the development and application of critical manufacturing requirements and methods to achieve manufacturing process excellence. Specific focus to include sheet metal fabrication, and testing and both component and finish good. Design and/or review technical requirements and identify/define appropriate manufacturing process. Influences alternative designs from a manufacturing capability perspective utilizing DFMA (design for manufacturing/assembly), process quality planning (PFMEA, control plans, SPC, etc.) and Lean design and manufacturing principles. Provide support to Product Management, Sourcing Engineering and Manufacturing. Provide support for all facets of material movement for manufacturing and distribution.

Job Requirements

• Participate in new product design team activities involving the evaluation, recommendation and implementation of the best manufacturing process alternatives to achieve manufacturing process simplification, standardization and quality objectives.
• Participate product tear downs to improve processes and time to customer.
• Maintain a high level of technical knowledge in the areas of manufacturing and design techniques to maximize productivity and quality in order to achieve manufacturing process excellence. Specific knowledge in Fabrication, Forming, and Testing.
• Strong financial acumen, must be able to develop and perform cost-benefit business case analysis.
• Recommend and specify equipment for manufacturing. Research new technologies in manufacturing and material handling/movement which would improve overall efficiencies.
• Conduct product testing where applicable to meet the manufacturing solution.
• Work closely with operations manufacturing and engineering to ensure manufacturing effectiveness.
• Develop specifications and drawings where applicable
• Minimum of 5+ years of Manufacturing experience with a focus on Sheet Metal, CNC Turrets, Press Break, Soft Tooling and some Hard Tooling experience.  
• Experience analyzing the current process and developing a strategy to improve productivity and cycle times.
•Experience as a sheet metal subject matter expert to provide new and innovative ways to develop assembly strategies.
