Manager, SIMCARE Center St. Louis Campus

Job Description

The Manager of SIMCARE Operations, in partnership with the Director of Clinical Learning Resources, campus leadership, national academic colleagues, Managers of Clinical Relations, faculty and staff will assume the following:

  • Supports student success through development and implementation of national clinical strategies, including the achievement of clinical learning goals through standardized utilization of learning resources
  • Develops and fosters partnerships with manufacturers and vendors, as well as national leaders in clinical simulation research and effective teaching strategies
  • Leads and monitors policies and processes for SIMCARE Center campus and online operations, including all nursing labs
  • Facilitates all SIMCARE Center vendor resources to include securing and managing contractual agreements with on behalf of program directors, campus leadership, SIMCARE Center managers and staff
  • Responsible for creating and implementing a variety of training and orientation for SIMCARE Center operations.
  • Implements the College’s mission, philosophy, and curricula through training and oversight for all SIMCARE Center equipment, supplies, and staffing guidelines.
  • Collaborates with national academic and operational leadership as well as campus and online leadership to assess needs; recommend policies and procedures faculty  and staffing utilization, orientation, training, and performance indicators to facilitate adequate resources are available for excellent experiential learning  for students.
  • Establish, maintain, and communicate national clinical learning lab operating policies, procedures, and best practices throughout Chamberlain College of Nursing.
  • Provides on-going assessment, training, and direction to SIMCARE Center team members for standard operating procedures and systems used to support excellence in clinical learning for Chamberlain students.
  • Provides support for the hiring, evaluation, and training of SIMCARE Center team members.
  • Participates in national and international laboratory committees and associations and communicates various opportunities and ideas with Chamberlain leadership.
  • Oversees national purchasing, planning and scheduling systems for use in the clinical learning labs, as well as other technological clinical resources, (i.e. EHR and bar coding, virtual reality, etc.).
  • Responsible for identification and resolution of potential and real concerns related to clinical lab experiences for all students; accountable for superior student satisfaction.
  • Role modeling behaviors consistent with the TEACH Values for faculty, staff, and students in the areas of customer service, collaboration, communication, excellence, dress, attendance, and professionalism.
  • Represents Chamberlain through collaboration within the DeVry Inc. community (i.e. Ross University, Apollo College, etc.) for clinical learning lab and simulation operations and ideas.
  • Responsible for standardizing vendor and equipment/supply recommendations; management of simulation and lab-related purchases and budget accountability.
  • Managing and building relationships especially in situations requiring group problem solving, consensus building, and win-win negotiation.
  • Accepts responsibility and accountability for related duties as assigned.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and conduct orientation and training for all SIMCARE Center Managers, staff, and faculty, as well as student workers.
  • Develop and deliver curriculum related to SIMCARE Center Operations training.
  • Identify and assess initial and ongoing training needs; evaluate training effectiveness.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing with a minimum of five years experience in a clinical healthcare environment is required. Advanced degree preferred. Minimum of one year previous simulation and/or telemedicine experience is required. 
  • Working knowledge of MS Office required.  Experience with audio/visual technology helpful.
  • Excellent communication skills with a high level of initiative and prudent judgment is required. Experience in adult education and/or training preferred.  Must be proficient in public speaking and presentation delivery.
  • Must have an ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong negotiating skills and ability to lead change and process improvement. 
  • Must be able to fly in an airplane and tolerate delays at the airport.
  • Must be able to drive, be able to rent a car and be able to rent a hotel room. 
  • Must be able to bend, pull, push and pick up 25 pounds. 
  • Must be able to stand for at least 2 hours
  • Must be able to work alone in a campus with no staff.
