Job Description

Seeking a professional, experienced, and driven Outside Plant (OSP) Design Quality Engineer on the CHC Consulting team. You will be a top performer who quickly adapts and responds to industry changes as well as internal initiatives, and someone who thrives in an ever-changing, fast-growing technical environment. You will have multi-year experience in all aspects of outside plant engineering, engineering systems, communications infrastructure construction, project budgeting, and vendor management. You will have an eye for detail and the ability to apply a complex engineering specification to real world situations at scale.  Must have knowledge of telephone industry standards, interpreting mechanized assignment records, PC applications, OSP drafting systems and able to interact with all network systems. Must be able to utilize facility analysis process to prepare the analysis of work order drawings and update work order records in an accurate and timely manner.


  • Ensure that network deployments are fast and efficient
  • Own the quality control process to produce a value-engineered design, removing all obstacles to construction
  • Define the fiber outside plant GIS data entry standard
Manage and enforce engineering quality and compliance with the Fiber outside plant design specification; ensure the constructability of all Fiber outside plant construction packages; use GIS / CAD systems to create detailed engineering and construction documentation

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Expert Microsoft Excel Skills
  • Exceptional critical thinking ability
  • At least 5 years of OSP experience
  • Experience working with Outside Plant design in a drafting system (ex. Microstation, AutoCAD)
  • Excellent oral/written communication, interpersonal and analytical skills.
  • Deep understanding of communications engineering and related systems: Architecture of FTTH networks, GIS / CAD

Preferred Qualifications

  • Vendor management experience.
  • Experience managing highly-complex, technical projects preferably in the communications industry
  • Deep understanding of communications construction processes (OSP placing, OSP splicing)
  • Outstanding organizational, prioritization, and multitasking skills.
