Atkins seeks an energetic, highly motivated, detail-oriented, self-starter to join our Denver, CO staff as a Transportation Design Engineer.With guidance from Atkins’ senior technical professionals, you will apply technical professional proficiency to the investigation of engineering problems, the coordination of project activities, and the preparation of preliminary plans and documents. You will be involved in design/build assignments, progressing toward learning how to clearly convey the design intent through engineering drawings and specifications. Upholds engineering ethics and standards of conduct.

Typical duties and responsibilities of this position are:

• Designs transportation infrastructure using 3D modeling software

• Reviews owner standards and details to ensure design compliance

• Designs and develops plans and drawings for preliminary and final deliverables

• Coordinates with other disciplines and the project team to resolve design issues.

Job Requirements

The appropriately qualified candidate will have the following core competencies and required experience:

B.S. or M.S. in Engineering. This level my be achieved by Engineers with 2 years' transportation design experience since B.S. or 1 year since M.S. The typical incumbent has 3 to 5 years' transportation design experience since Bachelor's degree.

REQUIRED:

• E.I. or EIT required.

• Technical writing, computer and communications skills required.

• Experience with Microstation and Inroads required.

DESIRED:

Working knowledge of Inroads Modeler functions and Roadway Designer strongly preferred.

Experience with Colorado transportation market preferred.
