Job Description

The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc. (NYSE: PNC) is one of the nation's largest diversified financial services organizations with assets of $320 billion.  PNC, operating primarily in 19 states and the District of Columbia, provides retail and business banking, residential mortgage banking, specialized services for corporations and government entities, including corporate banking, real estate finance and asset-based lending, wealth management and asset management.

The Director III Technology will lead the advancement of process-level recovery for Bank Operations.  This position is accountable for the strategic vision and execution of an integrated approach to recovery.  The Director will report to the CIO, Finance and Internal Technology and the position is located in Pittsburgh, PA

Major roles and responsibilities:

  • Provide complete project status visibility to the EVP, Bank Operations by coordination across fifteen Systems Directors and three line of business CIOs.

  • Drive an integrated recovery of processes through process-level testing including process dependencies in geographically diverse locations.  Processes include: ACH Operations, Check Processing, Wire Operations, Reserve Position Management, Credit Cards, and Debit Cards.

  • Collaborate with the lines of businesses, along with their technology partners to execute on the process needs and technology requirements to support process-level recovery and testing for the in-scope processes.

  • Partner with the Infrastructure team to establish a transition from the legacy disaster recovery strategy to the Greenfield Bridge location, to enable rapid switching between data centers if an event occurs.

  • Participate in Bank Operations Executive staff meetings and partner with the EVP to drive efficiency and effectiveness in addition to developing strategies.

  • Influence other Systems Directors managing systems upstream and downstream from the payment processing applications.  Interface with DBAs, infrastructure and fraud teams to support all applications.

  • Manage multiple projects or initiatives while in various stages of their lifecycle.  Coordinate and prioritize resources across projects, departments, and external partners to ensure that cross-functional resources are managed while achieving project objectives.

  • Project planning, resource planning, project schedule development and maintenance.

  • Create and monitor project estimates and budget as required.

  • Identify project uncertainties, alternate resource plans, and other risks for both client and company.  Implement mitigation strategies and contingency plans.

  • Promote common understanding of project timelines, milestones and reporting in order to align project stakeholders and team members.

  • Provide leadership to diagnose and overcome barriers to team/project progress.  Resolve internal and external team conflict to ensure adherence to project schedule and budget.

  • Ensure responsibilities are performed in a manner consistent with corporate and technology risk management standards.

  • Responsible for project management discipline and standards in accordance with Enterprise Project Life Cycle methodology.

  • Execute implementation plan and monitor progress, perform project review and create summary document to include standard operating procedures.
Experience and Requirements:

  • 15+ years as an accomplished technology leader with proven critical thinking skills and the ability to act strategically with solid technical knowledge in systems management and disaster recovery practices.

  • Ability to translate business needs and drive technology strategies and outcomes that meet these needs.

  • Hands-on experience with payment processing applications, mainframe technology, distributed technology and bank operations.

  • Current in latest software development methodology's and practices for Cloud, Agile, ITIL, Lean and/or Six Sigma.

  • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain high performance teams in the following areas - development, maintenance, testing and production support.

  • Experience in managing a development and production support team for a demanding, non-stop on-line business with low tolerance for system outages.

  • Advanced testing use of test simulators to evaluate non-functional scenarios.

  • Experience leveraging enterprise connections with an infrastructure team to address database, storage, network, and e-commerce technology and security issues.

  • Ability to manage remote teams and resources effectively while driving a high performance culture across all teams.

  • Experience and knowledge within on-line financial services or comparable regulated industry environment

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
