Director, Manufacturing Market Development

Job Description

Summary:  Responsible for end-to-end activities in leading Stratasys’ aggressive expansion into the manufacturing market segment globally. Builds and leads a team of market experts and influences indirect teams cross-functionally in designing, developing, and executing the business plan required to deliver accelerated and sustainable growth in the segment.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (Other duties may be assigned):

  • Designs, develops, and executes the company’s business plan for achieving growth targets across the company’s channels and regions resulting from the introduction of new and development of existing high-value manufacturing applications. Includes architecting, defining, and continually refining the market’s 60 month roadmap and go-to-market (GTM) strategy.
  • Develops organizational structure to include highly skilled leaders and personnel ensuring business plan execution.
  • Implements formalized KPI reviews and countermeasures to address execution gaps or shifting market conditions. 
  • Ensures continual transparency cross-functionally to business plan focus and performance.
  • Implements a formalized framework for strategically assessing the market including an on-going VoC and market research program aimed at clearly identifying known and unknown market needs.  Prioritizes market needs based on a robust evaluation methodology.  Assembles business case and market requirement documents for prioritized opportunities.
  • Implements a solution centric approach to solving prioritized needs including identifying and pursuing gaps in ecosystems requiring strategic alliances, JV’s, or M&A activities.  Partners with corporate business development as required.
  • Leads a team of technical experts through a stage-gate process of application innovation through customer beta.
  • Works collaboratively with Product Management in prioritizing market specific corporate R&D development activities.
  • Leads marketing and business development resources in developing and implementing the market’s GTM strategy.
  • Works collaboratively with corporate marketing and the regional businesses in deployment of the GTM strategy.
  • Identifies channel or regional gaps in market best practice implementation and partners with Regional business leaders to develop and implement initiatives to improve adoption.
  • Drives development and deployment of market specific thought leadership initiatives together with corporate marketing.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships and partnerships with key constituencies in industry, government, and academia to enhance company’s knowledge base and accelerate development efforts.
  • Accountable for management of department budget to plan.
  • Demonstrates commitment to Stratasys Core Values by leading, acting and behaving in a manner consistent with these values.
  • Follows all company safety policies and procedures and attend all safety trainings related to the job.

Essential Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Must be a US Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing or equivalent.  MBA or MS degree highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience working with or in manufacturing centered companies.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ of demonstrable progressive leadership roles working with or in manufacturing centered companies.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with or selling additive manufacturing technologies or related services.
  • Experience in consultative solution selling of capital manufacturing equipment to major Fortune 500 corporations a plus.
  • Demonstrates strong evidence of building and implementing successful and sustainable business development programs.
  • Demonstrates ability to lead technical and commercial activities jointly in creation and implementation of market initiatives.
  • Demonstrates ability to work proactively and collaboratively with cross-functional teams globally.
  • Strong ability to develop highly skilled global teams and leaders within those teams.
  • Demonstrates ability to deal with ambiguity and change in a rapidly growing environment.
  • Possesses excellent communication, organization, decision making, analytical and problem solving capabilities.
  • Demonstrates strong drive for results, customer focus, and commitment to quality and timely output.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Leads a team of business development and technical experts and influences indirect reports and teams cross-functionally.

Physical/Environmental Requirements:

  • Works in office environment.
  • Travel requirement: Up to 50% including international travel.
