P2 is seeking a Senior Director of Quality to own the vision and roadmap for delivering quality and process in the P2 Development organization.  You will lead P2’s Software Development Lifecycle’s (SDLC) definition, evolution, coaching and adherence and will drive the organization further towards an Agile development process.  You will enable, facilitate, coach and measure the adoption of improved quality programs throughout Development.  You will manage cross-product capabilities including Quality Assurance, process improvement, and development tools.  You will provide hands-on mentorship and coaching on Quality Assurance, testing, and automated testing for QA professionals on multiple product teams as you oversee process improvements throughout Development.  You will provide metrics for constant feedback and effectiveness in Development. You will provide shared infrastructure, tools, training, and support in process, and quality.  

This is a highly collaborative position requiring multiple groups to move in concert to the processes defined.  You will report directly to the Head of Software Development, and will be an active and important contributing member of the P2 management team.  The position will be based in either Denver, Calgary, or Houston.

Specific Responsibilities

Team Management

  1. Delivering results through effective leadership across product teams and across development sites in Quality Assurance and process improvement
  2. Drive a high level of employee engagement through process training and process improvement

Process Improvement and Oversight

  1. Provide shared infrastructure, capabilities, training, and support in the following areas:
    1. Tools
      1. Automated build and unit test tools
      2. Administer TFS
      3. Maintain tools that implement P2 Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
      4. Provide standards and infrastructure around Release Engineering
    2. Process
      1. Oversee implementation and adherence to P2 SDLC
      2. Facilitate regular review and improvement of process
      3. Responsible for publishing metrics that monitor process, quality, and efficiency of product development
      4. Coach and facilitate the adoption of Agile methodologies
    3. Quality
      1. Provide infrastructure and mentorship for improving testing
      2. Provide leadership in automated testing for ‘biggest bang’ results
      3. Report on quality and process metrics to management

Define and Manage Company-Wide Configuration Management Tools

  1. Manage Tools Teams responsible for build automation, test automation, TFS administration, metrics collection, etc.
  2. Develop, lead, and ensure adherence to P2 SDLC and methodologies

Oversee Quality Assurance

  1. Drive definition and execution of the necessary level of testing and automation
  2. Provide mentoring and coaching to QA professionals across product teams


Job Requirements

Work and Education Experience

  1. BS in Engineering or Computer Science from a top school
  2. 10+ years in software development, with increasing levels of managerial and leadership responsibilities.
  3. Experience managing development or QA teams as well as offshore vendors
  4. Experience with process improvement initiatives
  5. Strong background in Scrum, Kanban and other Agile techniques with a demonstrated achievement of driving adoption

Technical Know-How

  1. Experience with legacy as well as state of the art software stacks (such as .Net, Java, Oracle, SQL Server, etc.)
  2. Experience with modern software quality assurance tools and methodologies such as automated testing, configuration management, agile development, etc.


  1. Strong communication skills
  2. Willingness and eagerness to be “hands-on”, leading by example, and providing coaching and mentorship to the staff
  3. Demonstrated ability to successfully lead and drive adoption of new processes
  4. “Can do” positive attitude coupled with a strong respect for others and a results-oriented management style
  5. Experience in managing engineering operations in a growth environment; managing the transition from small to medium sized organizations; and in managing continual improvement in productivity, quality, and velocity
  6. Demonstrated success in serving as an effective leader within and across organizational boundaries
  7. Proven ability to collaborate with other team members to successfully create and deliver on project initiatives
