Job Description

A registered nurse in this institution will deliver nursing care to patients of varying age groups by utilizing the nursing process and nursing practice standards.  The registered nurse will maintain competency and application of the scientific knowledge necessary to meet patient needs.  The registered nurse demonstrates through organizational skills, the ability to provide ease in flow of work.  The registered nurse is knowledgeable and supportive of the hospital, department and nursing unit philosophies.  The RN OR Trainee will complete the University of Louisville Hospital Perioperative Course in good standing and successfully completes the clinical rotation and orientation within the Main Operating Room. 

Job Requirements

  • EDUCATION: A minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program is required. A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program is preferred. Effective May 1, 2014, all new-hire Associate Degree Registered Nurses (new graduate and experienced) are required to start an approved BSN program within two years of hire and complete an approved BSN program within five years of hire.
    Two ( 2) years of patient care experience required. Internals from ULH must also have one (1) year of experience at University of Louisville Hospital. Must be knowledgeable of current nursing practices.

    Current Registered Nurse license in Kentucky. Current AHA certificate in Basic Life Support (BLS).
