Health Care Supply Chain Operations have a prime opportunity to mitigate increases in supply and services expenses. By transforming health care organization’s supply chain operations into a vital, collaborative, and strategic function, you will not only help control escalating costs but also boost efficiency and optimize operational, financial, and clinical outcomes at our members.  Provide subject matter expert guidance, mentoring, and leadership to assist health care organizations in transforming their Supply Chain Operations to Leading Practice performance levels.

In addition, position the health care organization’s Supply Chain Operations team to meet and surpass the overall performance & financial objectives established by their leadership, as well as the customer service expectations of both their internal and external customers.


  • Performs research, data analysis, benchmarking and develop tools, graphics and presentations as appropriate to identify potential savings and assist the client in understanding methods and processes required to achieve measurable results.

  • Facilitate and drive cost reduction opportunities through the use of VHA LYNX tools, and or other cost reduction strategies.

  • Conduct market share / contract analysis at the line item level, which would include contract maximization, conversion, and vendor standardization.

  • Assist with materials management/purchasing processes, as requested by the hospitals. For example, benchmarking studies, contracting systems, database cleanup, help with RFI/RFP analysis.

  • Requires the ability to build strong strategic working relationships.

  • Compile project reports, track savings opportunities and present findings to hospital personnel.

  • Support member value analysis and/or product review committees.

  • May work in conjunction with existing HCO and VHA employees on-site.

  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.


  • A Bachelor Degree is preferred

  • Medical/Surgical/Healthcare product industry knowledge is required

  • Knowledge of VHA/Novation contracts is desired

  • Minimum 5 years previous experience in a healthcare supply chain, purchasing and/or material management role

  • Contract management experience and negotiation skills is highly preferred.

  • Requires strong communication, facilitation, and presentation skills at team-level & executive levels across healthcare member organizations.

  • Data analysis and assessment: including both qualitative and quantitative data.

  • Ability to work with variety of software and analytical and research tools, to develop statistical modeling as needed for assignment.

  • Knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Healthcare consulting experience is a plus

  • Experience in budgeting, standardization, utilization, product adoption/implementation, surgical services and/or value analysis is desired

  • Travel nationwide 50-75%
