Job Description


 

Responsibilities:

The Applications Engineer will be responsible for supporting the quotation and customer ordering process by reviewing customer requests and specifications for Valve Automation solutions and engineer a design or technical response to meet those needs. They will be responsible for preparing and creating bills of material and piping/wiring schematic drawings, troubleshooting in-house and customer support issues and maintaining specifications for Valve Automation products. Additional responsibilities will include training and assisting all Application Engineers with their questions and other needs.

Responsibilities include:

   •   Analyze specifications, application data sheets, inquiry data sheets, or other similar documents to determine if the desired specifications can be met. 

•   Define the products and their interrelationships to meet the functional and performance requirements

•   Configure products and modify designs, prepare drawing sketches, design system specifications, generate time and cost estimates, write exceptions to customer specifications, prepare formal valve operating system quotations, summary price sheets and bills of material

•   Identify “buyout” items (i.e., purchased from 3rd parties) needed to meet customer specifications and functional requirements and work with materials management personnel to identify qualified vendors

•   Upon receipt of orders, finalize valve operating system design, assign part numbers, create new part numbers, and create ECO’s as needed, to complete bills of material for each product sold

•   Provide technical support directly to customers to respond to queries about Valve Automation products and their use or to explain the design and function of their system solutions

•   Assist the shop floor personnel, especially in Automation, with their needs to assemble and test the final products with controls as needed

•   Assist and/or perform both in-house and customer training and consultation, as required

Job Requirements  

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technical Field, plus work experience with automation controls for a minimum of 2 years
  • 2 + years’ experience in valve/actuator business, desired
  • 2 + years’ experience with automation control components utilized in the actuator business, desired
  • 2 + years of designing control systems and technical writing experience or equivalent, desired
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to plan, organize, and multi-task in order to meet deadlines
  • Self-starter with a positive outlook and motivated attitude
  • Detail oriented and well organized
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Applications
