Position Summary:

Designs logical and physical models for the data warehouse, data mart, staging area, and the operational data store; communicate physical database designs to database administrator; evolve models to meet new and changing business requirements; develop process for capturing and maintaining meta data from all data warehousing components.

Essential Functions:

•Work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in assigned areas to analyze business processes and develop (and document) requirements for new tables and capabilities on ODS & EDW
•Work closely with resources from development, data architecture, and the business units to create an integrated model spanning multiple programs, products and subject areas within the operational database and data warehouse
•Design, build, and maintain the logical and physical data models to support the business requirements in a dynamic, client facing environment
•Develop modeling standards and practices

Other Duties:

•Keeps BI Manager & Data Architect informed of day to day project statuses.
•Stays abreast in BI and DW field for new techniques and functionality as they pertain to solutions.
•Assists other teams and peers with projects/efforts as needed.

Education:

•Bachelor’s degree in related field.

Experience:

•Minimum 5-8 years experience in OLAP architecture design, multi dimensional data modeling, data mart design, data security, ETL processes and process modeling.
•Minimum 5-8 years experience with developing structured systems specifications, including logical and physical data modeling/design
•Extensive experience with all phases of Data Warehouse development including prototyping, data modeling, analysis, design, development, testing, documentation, and training other team members.
•Experience in a care management or health insurer setting preferred.

Knowledge

•Knowledge of Erwin 7.xand Visio.
•Knowledge of Healthcare industry.

Skills:

•Ability to effectively use Data Modeling tool – Erwin or ER Studio.
•Expert SQL Server 2008 and 2005 skills required.
•Ability to use Data Quality and Profiling tools.
•Ability to drive technical review sessions, business requirements and prioritization.
•Strong verbal and written communication skills.
•Strong critical thinking skills.
•Ability to effectively collaborate with IT and other Business Intelligence staff.

Reasoning Ability:

•Ability to adhere to all PM best practices which include the SDLC set forth for the BIC department. This includes adhering to all design and performance standards for system Quality and Correctness.

Work Environment / Physical Demands:

Work is performed in a professional office setting, business casual dress environment. Working
extended hours may be required as needed. The physical demands for this position include exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. This is considered sedentary work, which involves sitting most of the time; walking and standing are required, as well on occasion. Telephone work and/or computer work are typically required.
