Job Description





      Performs Environmental Services functions throughout the Saint Joseph Health Center campus and grounds.


      • Cleans, dust mops and wet mops utility rooms, trash rooms, nurses areas, elevators and Food Court following assigned procedures daily; cleans vending areas, escalator and stairwells.
      • Vacuums the nurses areas, cafeteria and visitor elevators daily.
      • Dusts high and low.
      • Dust mops, wet mops with disinfectant, buffs floors with appropriate pads daily.
      • Shampoos carpet and upholstery per request of supervisor.
      • Sets up meeting rooms for special events as needed.
      • Uses chemicals in special areas following standard procedures.
      • Washes walls as assigned.
      • Maintains good personal and public safety practices following assigned procedures in all work.
      • Cleans public areas as assigned.
      • Picks up trash and boxes where needed and delivers to the trash compactor room and cleans area daily as assigned.
      • Changes drapes and cubicle curtain per request.
      • Segregates infectious waste.
      • Informs supervisor when there is default in equipment, and any other physical safety hazards (electric outlet, etc.).
      • Cleans patient areas and non-patient areas as assigned (16 per employee).
      • Strips and refinishes floors.
      • Moves furniture as needed.
      • Picks up special trash loads throughout the Health Center.
      • Operates, monitors and cleans the automatic compactors.
      • Operates autoclave.
      • Monitors doorways and entry hallways for cleanliness and safety.
      • Washes windows.
      • Collects trash throughout rounds and parking lots.
      • Sweeps curb and pressure washes entrances.
      • Communicates well with supervisor. Maintains good working relationships with others.
      • Reports hazards and malfunctioning equipment to supervisor.
      • Handles and operates equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
      • Maintains good personal and public safety practices.
      • Uses proper ergonomics in the work process.
      • Attends department/Health Center in-services, orientation, and other meetings as required.
      • Completes required education as assigned.

    Job Requirements



    • High School Diploma

    SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE (with minimum requirements indicated as appropriate)

    • Knowledge of hospitality cleaning procedures.
