Position Summary: Mortgage Sales and Production is the senior executive in the Mortgage Strategic Business Unit responsible for all mortgage sales activities, including retail mortgage production, the mortgage call center, mortgage marketing and sales force training. The position is responsible for the growth and development of mortgage origination capabilities for Commerce. These duties are carried out through the Retail Loan Representative sales force and their interaction with internal bank areas such as the retail bank branches and Private Banking, through external sourcing of business by that sales force, as well as the activities in the mortgage call center. The position reports to the President of Commerce Mortgage Corporation (CMC).
Representative Duties: Recruiting, Management and Training of Sales Managers and RLRs – 35%
Recruit, hire, coach and manage skilled mortgage sales managers and loan origination professionals to build the RLR sales force. Focus recruiting efforts on individuals with experience in external sourcing of mortgage business through referral channels such as REALTORS and builders. Provide appropriate levels of sales and operational training to enable successful job performance.
Management of Call Center Channel-25%
Build closed loan production through the mortgage call center via supervision of the call center manager and the call center team. Assure that appropriate reporting of call center results are developed.
Partnership with Retail Branches and Private Banking-15%
Build relationships with retail bank personnel to facilitate delivery of the mortgage product to retail customers, including RLR staffing in the branches. Provide training to retail personnel with respect to the mortgage product set and interaction with customers relative to mortgages. Partner with Private Banking to deliver appropriate products and high touch service to those customers.
Work with Production Operations and Compliance to assure effective regulatory compliance in the mortgage application process. Assure that RLRs have appropriate compliance training and that findings from Quality Control or Audit reviews are addressed on a timely basis. Coordinate mortgage origination activities with the Community Reinvestment Act department to achieve appropriate levels of mortgage origination to low and moderate income borrowers and in low and moderate income census tracts.
Develop, in conjunction with corporate marketing and CMC marketing staff, appropriate marketing strategies in support of the sales force and oversee creation of outreach campaigns for the call center. Coordinate internet mortgage strategies with appropriate departments.
Participate in overall CMC strategy development. Assist in product strategy via membership in the Product Development Committee. Participate in technology decisions as they relate to mortgage origination.
