Job Description

This position is responsible for helping the Division develop business plans that enable EmCare and its JV partners to maximize earnings opportunities and set realistic goals.  This position will also be focused on developing financial projections that are tied to business plans and assisting in the development of new processes to drive more collaborative and accurate forecast and budgeting.  This position will also be responsible for reviewing performance against plans and forecasts and discussing observations and recommendations with operational and business leaders as appropriate.  Additional primary duties include the tracking of intra-month leading indicators on key metrics, supporting new business development activities, and other changes required for existing contracts.  This position is expected to interact on a proactive and regular basis with business and operations leadership to help them attain business and financial goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development comprehensive business plans for  assigned contract that includes assumptions and rationale on key business drivers such as:
    • Volume
    • CPV
    • Subsidy arrangement
    • Coverage
    • Provider compensation

Duties tied to this include:

  • Development and deployment of processes including tools and templates
  • Training divisional leadership on use of tools and templates used in planning process
  • Reviewing submitted business plans for accuracy and completion and communicating gaps to Manager as well as operations leader responsible for the plan.
  • Assisting divisional leaders in the completion of analysis incorporated into business plans.
  • Review budget and forecast assumptions to ensure they are in congruence with business plans.

  • Assist with the implementation of processes and complete key tasks during each month for intra-month forecasting of provider compensation including coverage statistics, volume, and revenue.  Communicate observations on potential risks with plan/forecast achievement as necessary to divisional finance and operations leadership.
  • Perform in depth monthly reviews of assigned contracts to determine adherence to progression outlined in relevant business plans and prepare discussion points and observations to discuss with responsible EVP/CA for the contracts.  Reviews should focus on performance relative to financial targets in most recently closed month as well as factors that impact achieving those outlined in latest business plan / forecast.  Actively participate in monthly business reviews of each EVP and their line of business. 
  • Assist in the development of tools and processes that allow collaboration and input between departments in the creation and management of business plans and associated forecasts. On roll-out on an regular basis, providing training to business and operations leaders on the use of tools and processes.
  • As needed, perform analysis and review of requests made by EVP and/or Client Administration team to evaluate changes in:
    • Coverage,
    • Provider compensation structure
    • Managed Care Fee Schedule or Participating Status Changes
    • Subsidy arrangements
    • Other similar analyses

Ensure that financial impact is accurately calculated and compared to latest business plan and forecast with enough meaningful information for review by Division management and others.  Ensure that the business plan and latest forecast is updated for the contracts for changes once approved.

  • As needed, support New Business Development activities including the following:
    • Completion of pro-forma financial analysis including project management of:
      • Up-front process for key data inputs such as feasibility studies (or analytical reviews as appropriate) compensation rate studies, etc.
      • Development and editing of financial analysis for requested changes
      • Development of bid call or prospect review packages
    • Support EVP, Client Administrator, and other operations areas in the  start-up phase of a contract by confirming final start-up expenses, communication of key aspects of provider compensation, and evaluating how potentially new developments learned during the implementation phase impact the overall business plan and pro-forma financial model.
    • Management of plan and forecast for unknown sales on a proactive basis with input from Division leadership on anticipated start dates, etc.  Ensure that the forecast includes the latest approved pro-forma financial model information.
  • Assist in the development analysis and other  responses to Corporate requests related to business plans, forecasts, and other forward looking analyses including corrective action plans as needed. 
  • Other financial analysis related to planning and performance management as needed.
  • As discussed above, training and roll-out of processes and tools are a key part of this role, Training functions tied to this position include:
    • Development of written instructions/guidelines
    • Presentation of training in a group session as needed
    • Follow-up training as needed with individuals to ensure planning and performance tools are understood.
  • Adherence to and compliance with information systems security is everyone’s responsibility. It is the responsibility of every computer user to know and follow Information Systems security policies and procedures. Attend Information Systems security training, when offered.  Report information systems security problems.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/Licensing/Certification:

  • A minimum of a BA/BS in Accounting or Finance is required. 

Experience:

  • Minimum of 4-6 years of financial analysis or accounting work experience, with at least 2-3 years of experience of senior management reporting and presentation; demonstrated support of operations by utilizing financial analysis to make recommendations ideal. 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Outlooksoft, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.)
  • Ability to learn, and successfully implement planning software tools 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure.  Must be able to manage multiple projects at once with strong problem solving skills.
  • Confident presentation skills
  • Excellent communication skills both on the telephone and personally.
  • Must be able to perform high level math.
  • Must be able to plan and negotiate with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical skills required.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheet programs required.
