Job Description

The monitor technician is responsible for monitoring the cardiac and/or pulse oximetry monitors and noting changes in patients condition; findings are communicated in writing and verbally. The monitor technician is also responsible for assuring equipment and supplies are available and ready for use.

Job Requirements

A.  EDUCATION:  High school diploma or GED is required. Successful completion of Monitor Technician course is required. B.  EXPERIENCE:  Prior experience as a monitor technician is preferred.  C.  LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: None required. D.    EQUIPMENT/SKILLS: Able to read and write.  Cardiac Monitor operation.  Pulse Oximetry monitor operation.  Must possess good written and oral communication skills. E.  WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Works in a well lit, temperature controlled, modern environment. Required to sit for long periods of time. May encounter some eye strain.  Must successfully complete the pre-employment/post job offer health screening examination and the annual screening each year thereafter as an employee. F.     OTHER:   Performs other duties as assigned.
