The incumbent will be responsible to manage all functions of the San Francisco Service Area Regional Institutional Review Board (IRB) on behalf of Hospital Administration and our regional research community. The regional IRB provides oversight for four Dignity Health Hospitals and approximately 60 studies including investigational drug, device, procedure and data collection protocols. This position is responsible for maintaining compliance with Dignity Health's Federal Wide Assurance (FWA) and Dignity Health's Human Research Protections Office (HRPO) Policy & Procedure in accordance with Federal and State law regarding the oversight of human subject's research.
3 years relevant IRB management experience. Demonstrated ability to work with researchers, students and administration. Experience with web based IRB submission and IRB management applications and tools. Advanced experience using spreadsheet, database and word processor applications as well as computerized tracking systems.
Bachelors of Science in life sciences or related field or equivalent combinations of education and experience. CITI Collaborative Intuitional Training Initiatives Certification (for Ethics in Human Research) Certified IRB Professional (CIP) or eligible to sit for exam within one year of hire and receive passing score.
Organizational skills and research knowledge in the application of regulations that promote the protection of human subjects. The incumbent must exercise independent judgment when making determinations about the need for IRB review of Dignity Health activities that meet the federal definition of research. Detailed knowledge of regulations regarding the ethical conduct of research using human subjects in clinical trials, outcomes research, nursing and other research areas.
