Job Description

ClarkDietrich Building Systems, an industry leader in the manufacturing of light gauge steel framing and building materials has an immediate opening for an Operations Trainer and Procedures Manager.

Manages training efforts across the operations organization nationwide. Develops Standard Operating Procedures with plant management. Directs and develops Employee Involvement efforts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work with Plant management to generate Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
o Technical writing Skills
o Computer Skills to help IT develop a Library of SOP’s
o Mechanically Inclined, to understand Machine workings and terminology
o Ability to facilitate group work on SOP’s as well as writing them 
o Develop Training programs that utilize the SOP information
•  Work , train and direct Employee Involvement efforts around “Lean” type events
o Train on Lean (Employee Involvement problem solving)
o Teach Lean (Employee Involvement problem solving)
o Help Plants get started and develop a Lean (Employee Involvement problem solving) culture
• Develop training classes for plant supervision (train the trainer) that enable individual plants to effectively train their employees
o Written, classroom, hands-on, video conference methods incorporated as needed
o Evaluations/Testing development incorporating CDBS Tiered Wage System
o Incorporate safety, quality, productivity, scrap control, housekeeping, and teamwork into all training efforts
o Facilitate plant training program kickoffs
o Develop individual plant training program audits
• Work closely interdepartmentally between Operations, IT, and HR to pull training efforts together

Job Requirements


• Communication skills-ability to communicate in large group settings, engage employees in training, and generate technical writing
• Candidate should be proficient in WORD, EXCEL, and POWERPOINT
• Experience as teacher/instructor in an adult vocational, business, or factory setting a plus

Education and/or Experience:

• Operations management/business management degree preferred
• Continuous improvement experience with proven mechanical aptitude. Lean experience a plus.
• Experience as teacher/instructor in an adult vocational, business, or factory setting a plus

• Ability to analyze complex issues.

• Lean certifications a plus
