Compensation: $26.12 to $30.25 per hour

Essential Functions: o Implementing desktop server and workstation policy software packages o Performing end point inventory asset management and scheduling of PC audits o Performing workstation imaging o Configuring patch-management services o Distributing and packaging PC applications o Performing operational and support tasks for VMware VDI applications o VMware VDI (Thin-client) administration and support o Configuring and utilizing remote management o Manage Microsoft desktop application support and licensing o Enterprise desktop configuration and security management, including detailed management knowledge of anti-virus software and tools, such as Trend-Micro o Assist with PDA administration and support Qualifications, Education & Experience: REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Qualified candidates should have the following skills and professional experience: The candidate must have the life experience of completing an undergraduate degree program (BA, BS or international equivalent) Strong English speaking and well developed technical writing skills Refined personal organizational skills, self-reliance, punctuality, determination and proficiency with a broad-range of PC system technologies 5+ years of hands-on experience as an IT professional, managing desktop applications, resources and systems, preferably at an educational institution Knowledge of Windows network print servers, configuration and management Expertise in managing and maintaining a PC installation base (greater than 500 systems) using enterprise-class desktop systems management software (such as Microsoft SMS, Altiris LanDesk, Novell Zenworks, ZCM11 and PC Anti-Virus systems) Practical experience and knowledge of desktop authentication via LDAP architectures such as MS Active Directory, Novell eDirectory or OpenLDAP 2+ years of experience working with sophisticated, service-management, including virtual machine technology environments which utilize ITIL-based best practices, change management, Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) workflows and structured Project Management Experience with Novell client, file services and network drive infrastructure Familiarity with support ticketing systems, including best-practices for ticket-based collaboration in multi-tiered support/project environments Practical experience working in a matrix-management professional environment, where technical input is provided by IT peers, vendors, instructors/staff and collaboration often occurs across technical teams and departments Demonstrated ability to author technical documentation for systems administration and staff training, or as needed CERTIFICATIONS Microsoft Certified IT Professional: Enterprise Support Technician (MCITP) Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) Certifications in MS Windows desktop support Management of Windows Print Server architectures System management experience with Novell eDirectory services Additionally, this role must have some working knowledge of other systems and application areas which are managed by the Infrastructure Team. The Desktop Systems Administrator will assume an equal share of the after-hours on-call support responsibilities, including a periodic 24 hour/day pager rotation which lasts for 1 week at a time: Security Administration, including desktop, network, policy and physical access enforcement for IT assets and applications Network Administration, including basic knowledge of VLANs, basic network routing, understanding of desktop and enterprise firewalls, DHCP and DNS administration Knowledge of Windows Server Systems Administration Basic Unix/Linux skills are required to function successfully as a member
