Job Description

Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems is seeking a Digital Design Engineer with experience in coding, simulating, synthesizing, and testing large VHDL based digital designs. Experience in implementing arithmetic logic units or flow control for pipeline data processing is desired. Any prospective candidate must be comfortable with working in a research environment with constantly shifting priorities and requirements.



Job responsibilities:

• Convert high-level algorithms into VHDL code and simulate the results in a tool such as ModelSim or QuestaSim.

• Convert VHDL code into synthesizable logic blocks for use in an ASIC using Cadence or similar tool.

• Convert parallel data flow and computing architectures into synthesizable VHDL code. Simulate the code to verify operations.

• Design and code very large-scale simulations to gain confidence in the overall design architecture of a massively parallel computing system.

Job Requirements

Basic Qualifications:


*Must be fluent in VHDL.
*Must be familiar with C and/or Matlab.
*Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other relevant technology field with 9 years of related experience (7 years with an MS).


*Previous digital design experience is required.
*Must be a US citizen.

Preferred Qualifications:
*Know how to use, configure, and manage a Cadence design.
*Previous experience with the entire design process, from design through tape out, through test and acceptance.
*A Master’s degree or PhD in a related field is highly desired.
