Job Description

Our Lady of Peace (OLOP) is a private, not-for-profit psychiatric hospital in Louisville.  The hospital was originally founded in 1951 by the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth. With 396 beds, Peace is one of the one of the largest psychiatric hospitals in the nation. The Children’s Peace Center at Our Lady of Peace is the largest and most comprehensive private provider of child/adolescent inpatient psychiatric care in the country.  Our Lady of Peace operates a full continuum of services for patients from young children to seniors, with a special emphasis on psychiatric care for children and adolescents, including several special needs programs.  Patients come to Peace from all over Kentucky and the surrounding region, including eleven other states.  Visit

Provides chemical dependency treatment counseling, family education and therapy services to patients and families in the addictions programs. This includes direct clinical care to patients and families to address interpersonal, chemical dependency, co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders and family systems issues that cause emotional distress. The modalities include: group therapy, family therapy, individual therapy, multifamily therapy, multifamily education, addictions and psychoeducation, discharge planning and coordinating with community, government and mental health agencies to obtain aftercare services necessary to reduce and prevent relapse. Works to develop and maintain the addictions program components. May provide care to chemically dependent and non-chemically dependent patients and families as assigned. Provides clinical supervision to clinical staff as requested and chairs supervision group.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in social svcs field required. Masters degree preferred. Certification by the Kentucky Board of Chemical Dependency Counselors (CADC) required. CPR certification with the American Heart Association. Able to perform CPR techniques.

Chemical dependency experience providing therapy to patients and families required. Ability to complete safe crisis management training and perform safe crisis management techniques.
