CLICK is seeking a Lead Unix Administrator for a Perm position in the Cincinnati area.

SUMMARY:
Part of the systems engineering job family responsible for supporting the design, maintenance and troubleshooting of Unix systems. Provide engineering support for all Unix hardware and software systems design. Provides technical skills and expertise to business and/or technical projects with a moderate to high level of complexity. Follows corporate standards to implement solutions for customers. Oversees the implementation cycle of customers and serves as a resource throughout the complete customer life cycle. Provides documentation of customer implementations and processes so that customers can be supported by administration.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists with problem resolution for technical hardware Unix issues.
  • Responsible for hardware and software configuration, maintenance, monitoring and troubleshooting of Unix systems.
  • Plays a key role as an individual contributor on projects of a moderate to high level of complexity.
  • Performs routine tasks such as file-system creating, file-system expansion, system patching, printer management, etc.
  • Manages Remedy queue of requests.
  • May be required to support third shift or other off-hours Unix activities.
  • Completes work assignments in conjunction with more senior staff members and helps mentor junior staff members.
  • Works to increase job knowledge through daily work responsibilities.
  • Plays a key role as the technical implementer for projects. Responsible for ensuring that the tactical implementations projects are functional and follow corporate standards.
  • Functions as a technical expert in the trouble-shooting of customer implementations. Assures that projects follow prescribed development life cycle and meet quality standards.
  • Development and continuous improvement of system administration and operational processes and standards.
  • Works closely with other departmental staff, Networking, NOC, Facilities, and System Engineering to coordinate efforts and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction, both internal and external.
  •  Responsible for systems performance and resolution of production incidents, which may require 24 hr/day and/or 7-day/week coverage.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned. 


Job Requirements

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's of Science in Computer Science or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Advanced AIX and Linux skills required.
  • AIX and Solaris certifications preferred.
  • Must possess teamwork, strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • 5-7 years Unix administration experience with at least 3 years advanced AIX administration.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience in a production class environment.
  • Experience with IBM system management tools such as NIM, HMC, Mksysb, JumpStart, PowerVM, etc.
  • Live Partition Mobility & NPIV preferred.
  • Experience with IBM LPARs, DLPARS, and virtualization, and general large frame management.
  • Expert Shell programmer capable of scripting repeatable systems management processes.
  • Solaris experience desired.
  • Linux experience desired
  • Experience with large systems such as the IBM p795, p780 or Sun E25K desired.
  • Experience with clustering technologies like IBM HACMP, Power HA or Sun Cluster desired.
  • Unix certification preferred.
