Job Description

The Project Manager is responsible for communicating project status and information to other groups so they can manage their readiness activities accordingly. Collective planning and execution ensures all cross functional areas are aligned and activities re-enforce each other for better operational efficiency and execution of projects.  The Project Manager is a central information resource and has the overall accountability for the successful delivery of assigned projects.


  • Provides strong, yet collaborative leadership to project teams to ensure the goals of the project are met
  • Defines the critical success factors for the project with the project stakeholders and ensures they are met
  • Ensures adherence to the project management processes.
  • Leads the project teams to create realistic and achievable project schedules that cater to the different commitments on the teams involved
  • The Project Schedule is a coordinated effort that is overseen by the Project Manager.  Individual areas estimate their work, sequence their tasks, and identify dependencies between groups.  The Project Manager helps to identify and resolve any disconnects and works to make sure that the aspects of resources, functionality, and schedule are balanced
  • Ensures that where multiple projects are being delivered by shared resources that the project schedules are viable to manage around the resource constraints
  • Lead the daily project team status meeting.  Produce Project Status reports tracking task completion, issues and risks for active projects
  • Identify risks and assist with mitigation efforts by balancing resources and priorities across active projects.  Coordinate communications, update and manage project communication sites
  • Evaluate performance at milestone and checkpoints to determine if a project is on schedule
  • Prepare and co-ordinate all major milestone signoff efforts from planning to project completion
  • Improve tools and methodologies used for the management of our projects
  • Increase knowledge transfer and flow of information on products and projects within the organization.
  • Works with stakeholders to define criteria for success for projects
  • Define and negotiate appropriate scope
    • Determine scope needed to deliver solution
    • Reconcile and negotiate scope with all stakeholders
  • Successfully initiate projects by leading kickoff and launch the project
  • Manage a number of ongoing projects within the IT Operations organization
    • Plan, monitor and manage ongoing work
    • Provide quality assurance on all project deliverables
    • Communicate status to stakeholders
    • Manage and negotiate ongoing delivery issues
  • Maintain Project Administration functions
    • Ensure project systems and artifacts are current
  • Build or contribute to tools, techniques and methodology and training of team members on project management practices


  •  Demonstrated ability to manage projects from initiation to completion with all stakeholder involved at all levels of the organization
  • Proven pro-active team leader and self-starter with the ability to drive decisions and consensus, and to resolve escalation issues.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills in order to liaise between the executive sponsors and the project teams.
  • Ability to oversee multiple projects, deliverables and resources simultaneously.
  • Excellent presentation skills and polished/professional demeanor
  • Solid working knowledge of MS Office, including MS Project and MS PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with IT technologies used in the delivery of software as a service
  • Undergraduate degree in applicable field.  Graduate degree a plus.
