PBX Operator (Shift Differential)

Job Description

  • Assists in the operation of a multiple position switchboard
  • Take incoming calls concerning inpatient information. 
  • Uses IDX to pull up patient data, relaying floor, room number, bed number, and phone number; and transfers call to the correct patient; screening calls as necessary to enforce the Admissions Blackout List and Health System policies
  • Places or assists in placing long distance calls; maintains toll call records; enters caller's name, date of call, place called and the amount of charges; prepares charge tickets

Job Requirements

High school diploma or its equivalent is required.  Specialized training in operation of multi-positioned telephone switchboard is preferred.  Six months as an operator on a multi-position switchboard and familiarity with radio paging systems is required.
