Sitting within the core development team supporting the STMJ (Science, Technical & Medical Journals) platform which includes Mendeley, www.mendeley.com the reference management software division; SCOPUS www.scopus.com  the market leading journal & article database and Science Direct www.sciencedirect.com  the market leading full-text scientific database we now require a Principal Software Engineer - Mobile to play a lead role in continuing the rapid growth of the mobile platform.
Job Purpose:
The Principal Mobile Software Engineer will provide solutions, technical leadership, direction and high-level design for the mobile portfolio of the journals business. With some 80 applications released already, the successful person will play a lead role in the development and implementation of a significant number of new applications in the coming year. Ultimately we will look to the successful candidate to provide direction to enriching the user experience for the entire range of journal branded B2C applications.

Job Requirements

Functional Experience:
Expertise of the software development lifecycle including design, coding, testing and delivery
Experience in systems analysis, design and a solid understanding of development, quality assurance and integration methodologies, including automation of builds, testing and release activities.
Develop integrated solutions within a broad technical and business context of significant impact and documentation of the solution.
Focus on the design and configuration of new systems to meet user requirements
7+ years of relevant work experience
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a relevant field of work or equivalent work experience
Technical Experience:
Objective C, iOS/Objective C Profiling tools, Build tools, Automation and experienced in release of native apps
Source Control Management (Git/Github)
Java (at least java 1.5 and above)
Web application framework e.g. Spring
Web Server and application server (Apache/Tomcat)
RESTful web services
Amazon Cloud experience preferable
Distributed system (JMS, AQMP)
Experience with video playback (JW player)
Experience with CDN
RDBMS/SQL/Procedure SQL, JavaScript, HTML, XHTML, XML, XSL stylesheets, DOM, SAX, SOA
