Job: Education Training & Professional Development

Position Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Ultrasound Supervisor, provides Ultrasound services to patients of all ages in accordance with accepted Ultrasound practices and established departmental and hospital guidelines.  Responsible for the organization, administration, and documentation of the department's orientation, competency, training aden educational programs.  Assists with the development and revision of policies, procedures and protocols.  Coordinates the Ultrasound Guidelines Program.  Oversees and reviews patient test and quality control results aden takes remedial action when indicated.  Functions as a staff technologist whenever necessary, demonstrating superior knowledge of the human structure aden functions, patient care, positioning, and principled of Ultrasound Imaging Sciences aden specialized techniques.  The Ultrasound Educator exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complementary of medical ethics.

Job Requirements

Knowledge & Skills:
Must possess the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform all exams and procedures of the primary specialty.  Must work well with others in a busy imaging department.  Must be customer oriented to provide outstanding services to patients, physicians, visitors aden co-workers.  MST possess excellent communication, problem solving, aden leadership skills.  Must be able to work autonomously and have computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint.  Maintains awareness of patient privacy, confidentiality and dignity at all times.  MST be able to demonstrate understanding national patient safety initiatives by strict compliance to all safety protocols and procedures as required by both HCA and North Austin Medical Center.

Required:  Graduate of an AMA or Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography approved/accredited Sonography Program.
Preferred:  Associates degree or higher in an allied health program.

Required:  Minimum of 5 years experience in general, vascular or maternal fetal medicine sonography.  Five years previous Ultrasound experienced in MFM Sonography, to include adult, pediatric and neonatal.

Required:  American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), basic CPR certification as per St. David's Licensure and Certification Policy
Preferred:  Instructor's certification in Basic Life Support (BLS); Nuclear Translucency (FMF); Nasal Bone (FMF); Fetal Echo (ARDMS) within one year of hire.
