HIM Tech II - Medical Records - Full Time - Children's

Job Description

A. Directly supervises the discharge medical records processing activity
B. Reconciles all clinic discharges daily with the appropriate department ensuring that all records have been received.  Follows up daily until all records are provided to the HIM department
C. Evaluates records to ensure that all documentation is compliant, complete and accurate so that the accounts may be coded and billed
D. Directly supervises the information retrieval and filing activities
E. Develops and train staff
F. Establishes productivity standards and mechanisms by which to monitor all areas
G. Maintains confidentiality and discretion regarding all work matters and works cooperatively with all team members Demonstrates competence to perform assigned responsibilities is a manner that meets the population-specific and developmental needs of the members served by the department. (E)
H. Appropriately adapts assigned assessment, treatment, and/or service methods to accommodate the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, age-specific and other developmental needs of each member served. (E)
I. Takes personal responsibility to ensure compliance with all policies, procedures and standards as promulgated by state and federal agencies, the hospital, and other regulatory entities.
J. Performs all duties in a manner that protects the confidentiality of patients and does not solicit or disclose any confidential information unless it is necessary in the performance of assigned job duties.
K. Demonstrates adherence to the CORE values of Santa Rosa Health Care.  (E)
L. Performs other duties as assigned. (M)

Job Requirements

A. EDUCATION:
1. High School diploma or equivalent. 
2. Associate or college degree preferred.

B. EXPERIENCE:
1. Acute Care Hospital and Clinic Medical record experience preferred.
2. Previous supervisory experience preferred
3. Working knowledge of Meditech preferred.

C. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
1.    None

D. EQUIPMENT/SKILLS:
1. Strong computer skills including Excel
2. Must be able to plan, organize and analyze work
3. Strong organization skills, ability to multi-task and communicate with all levels of the organization.

E. WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must also successfully complete the pre-employment/post job offer health screening examination, and the annual screening each year thereafter as an employee. 

F. OTHER:
1. Performs other duties as assigned. (M)
