Job Description

Our firm is seeking a qualified Electrical Engineer to join our electrical engineering team. The successful candidate shall be an experienced design engineer, who has worked on large HVAC system projects, as well as dedicated electrical projects. Experience with utility interconnection of synchronous and induction based power generation systems is also desired, but not required. The candidate must possess an excellent working knowledge of the NEC, IEEE, NFPA standards, as well as the requirements of the NYC Building Code.  Excellent oral and written communication skills are a requirement.

Key Responsibilities:

         Assist in the development of proposals for electrical upgrade projects;

         Perform field work to gather required data. This includes reviewing existing facility drawings, interviewing maintenance staff, performing field inspections of equipment, deploying metering/logging devices, and obtaining data from the existing BMS;

         Data reduction and analysis;

         Identify viable energy efficiency opportunities whose successful implementation will result in the electric energy and demand savings as well as other fuel savings in existing facilities;

         Develop and perform energy savings calculations;

         Size and lay out major equipment for identified measures;

         Develop work scopes and construction costs estimates for identified measures;

         Report writing.

Job Requirements

Minimum requirements: 
  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering
  • 4-7+ years of experience in engineering in commercial/institutional buildings, preferably in NYC
  • Design of electrical systems, create plans, schematics, equipment selection, load calculations, systems narratives and specifications, system design and layout, field investigation and construction administration.
  • Perform design work on CADD system.
  • Prepare due diligence and feasibility reports.
  • Attend meetings with other consultants.          
  • Work in close contact with the entire design team.
  • Must be an effective team player and be self-motivated.
  • Provide engineering support for Senior engineering staff.
  • Comply with group and company standards and procedures.
  • Knowledge of NYC and NYS building and energy codes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Initiative and ability to work unsupervised
  • A strong knowledge of energy efficiency technologies, renewable technologies, green building design, and energy efficiency design and implementation
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.Team-oriented with diverse technical and leadership skills; Working knowledge of logging/metering equipment;Proficiency in building energy modeling software, such as eQuest or Energy Plus, a plus;EIT, LEED-AP & CEM certifications are a plus;Prior HVAC design experience a plus.

Additional preferred attributes:

  • PE or EIT Credential Preferred but NOT Required

  • Commissioning / Retro-Commission experience is a Plus but NOT Required

  • CEM or CBCP certifications preferred but NOT required.
