Job Description

    B.S. or A.S. in Healthcare related field i.e. Laboratory.  Minimum 3 years clinical experience with  point of care/laboratory testing.  Highly motivated and self directed and able to function independently.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Leadership qualities, human relations skills and decision making ability.  Readily accepts change and can influence people and organizational climate.

    •         Standardizes all Point of Care testing Policy and Procedures with input from Patient Care Services and Laboratory Point of Care Standardization Team.

    •         Maintains a constant state of readiness, using guidelines from CAP, CLIA and JCAHO, for the Hospital locations.

    •         Will act as a reference only to offsite affiliated locations.

    •         Assesses new instrument/testing on request or as needed.

    •         Implements new instrument/testing, including training and documentation, following laboratory protocol.

    •         Regular communication with PCS, reporting on compliance and accuracy of testing and documentation.

    •         Identifies areas of non-compliance and works with appropriate manager.

    •         Ability to rotate to additional hospital locations.

    •         Shares monthly and annual reports with Laboratory Supervisor.

    •         Works with Patient Care Services to maintain initial and ongoing competency.

    •         Trains lab staff to review and evaluate data.

    •         Ensures that complete records and documentation are maintained regarding new lot numbers for controls, strips and other reagents.

    •         Ensures that complete records and documentation are maintained regarding linearity, precision, correlation studies and proficiency testing as required. ~cb~
