The QA/QC Manager defines all needed measures for smooth and economic specification of Codes, Standards and QA/QC topics.
Responsibility includes assurance that all products and services provided by company meet client expectations, applicable specifications and standards in order to achieve documented quality, reliability and performance levels.
The QA/QC function is involved in all phases of engineering from the bidding through construction phase and contributes to a successful execution of EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) projects.
The QA/QC Manager within a globally executed project is responsible for overseeing a team that will perform the following duties as well as being hands on these tasks:
Oversee and support the procurement process of piping, equipment and package and units with respect to supplier compliance with project and code requirements
Provide clarification of customer, suppliers and construction queries
Prepare and provide project monitoring, control and reporting for the QA/QC discipline including:
Cost, budget, Client, scheduling and quality
Identify problems, opportunities, risk and deviations to mitigate consequences
Manage the development, review and update of quality assurance documentation such as Inspection Attribute Lists, Inspection/Welding Specifications and Vendor Data Requirements for product lines in cooperation with Linde Engineering North America Engineering and Project Management Departments
Respond to and manage quality issues identified by vendors, customer, quality representatives and company personnel. Ensure root cause analyses methodology is followed
Monitor quality of products and services throughout project base in order to target areas of improvement
Ensure to communicate lessons learned of QA/QC non conformities to Engineering for implementation into the design
Oversee the process of review and summary for new code editions to be done by QC Engineers.
Direct QA/QC team while providing interpretations of code issues for design, fabrication, inspection, and testing of piping, pressure vessel and welding issues
Lead QC Engineers on tasks relevant to research Code Cases and submission of technical inquiries
Direct and lead the QA/QC team during the review of Contract and Specifications at proposal and project kick-off stage for inclusion of contract client requirements within technical packages to sub-suppliers
Oversee the task to prepare, review, and approve weld procedures and special material applications for fabrication and construction
Collaborates closely with the Materials Technology and Codes Engineer in the review and or recommendation of changes of material due to availability or ASTM deviations for active projects and spare parts orders
Direct the QA/QC team in the establishment of purchase specifications in accordance with the given Code Concept.
Ensure to provide QA/QC departmental support during Inspection visits of purchased equipment for compliance with project specifications.
Manage the engagement of QA/QC members to participate in Supplier Qualification Audits
Recommend and or oversee recommendation of NDE methods for special alloys, weld details, or operational criticality
Up to 20% travel both domestic and international - An assignment to company head office in Munich of minimum 2 months within first two years of employment is to be expected
Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical or Welding Engineering or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 10 years' of experience in Petrochemicals / Industrial Gases in the area of QA/QC application or any comparable related work experience.
Extensive knowledge and experience in design, fabrication, inspection, and testing of international Codes and Standards, in particular ASME, ASTM, API
Knowledge of NDE/NDT, and QA/QC process standards and techniques
Knowledge of welding and metallurgy; AWS CWI endorsement to ASME IX is preferred
Working knowledge of fabrication, construction, and assembly of plant components; and fired capital equipment
Working knowledge of national and international codes and standards related to the discipline
Experience on project execution with leading an international project team
Knowledge in EPC work process and good understanding of engineering and information workflow
Cost responsibility and basic knowledge about bid verification
Basic procurement knowledge
Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
