Job Description

Position Title:Restaurant Manager

Position Summary:
Maintains overall management responsibilities for the Subway Restaurant. Directs, coordinates, and participates in preparation, cooking, wrapping or packing food serviced or prepared by Restaurant, collecting of monies from in-house or delivery customers, or assembly food orders. Directs food preparation personnel to ensure food adheres to standards of quality to maintain cleanliness of restaurant and equipment Coordinates activities of workers engage in keeping business records, collecting, and paying accounts, ordering or purchasing supplies, and delivery of foodstuff to retail customers. Interviews, Hires, Discharges, Trains and Evaluates all restaurant personal. May contact prospective customers to promote sales – may establish delivery routes and schedules.

Tasks & Competencies:
  • Proficiency of all tasks through all levels of service up to Manager.
  • Proficiency of all daily and weekly paperwork required by the company.
  • Implement and enforce all policies and procedures required by the company.
  • Personally maintain the required hours or schedule outlined by the company.
  • Maximize the profitability of the restaurant by increasing sales and controlling costs.
  • Maintain food cost according to the current company standard.
  • Maintain labor cost within the current company standard.
  • Maintain productivity at the current company standard.
  • Maintain the quality, freshness, and portion specifications outlined by Subway corporate and the local health department.
  • Maintain store compliance according to the standards of the current Subway corporate monthly evaluation in all areas under direct control of the manager.
  • Maintain hours of operation established by the company.
  • Routinely inspect all equipment and fixtures, inside and outside of the store, to ensure good working condition.
  • Assist in the coordination of repairs and maintenance on an as needed basis.
  • Meet all staffing needs through effective interviewing, hiring, training, and scheduling of employees.
  • Attend all meetings, seminars, and business functions mandated by the company.
  • Ongoing development of crew members to a promotable status, through the levels of service program and regular performance appraisals as outlined by the company.
  • Maintain an immaculately clean environment at all times.
  • Maintain an exemplary attitude at all times.
  • Proficiency in handling cash and making deposits.
  • Maintain control of the profit and loss of the store.
  • Maintain required inventory and products as outlined by the corporate policy.
  • Completes and posts the daily or weekly shift work assignment schedule for all personnel in the designated location.
  • Job Requirements

    Pre-requisites:
    • Experience: Sufficient exposure, generally a minimum of two (2) years in QSR establishments as counter server, food preparer, shift manager, or assistant unit manager.
    • Physical: Must be able to exert well-paced mobility for periods of up to four (6) hours in length and have the ability to lift 10 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Must have the stamina to work a minimum of 50 to 60 hours a week.
    • Requires standing 100% of the time 
    • Must have restaurant management experience. 
    • Ability to reach out, up or down, stoop, bend or pull to retrieve product and supplies from shelves, possibly weighing up to 50 lbs.
    • Reaching, bending, and scrubbing to perform any cleaning task. Pushing or pulling a mop or broom. Lifting chairs and moving tables as part of cleaning.
    • Climb up a step ladder for cleaning purposes or to retrieve products.
    • Must be able to identify products from labels, learn menu and operational procedures from manuals.
    • Must be able to legibly complete paperwork assignments.
    • Must be able to speak clearly and hear well to communicate with customers, co-workers, and supervisor.
    • Must have quick and accurate hand movements when preparing menu items and ringing up sales.
    • Must be able to quickly learn store operations and menu preparations, then re-learn as routine changes occur
    • Must have physical and mental stamina.
    • Must possess a positive attitude.
    • Must be rational and objective.
    • Must have planning capabilities and a good memory.
    • Must be decisive, intuitive, and reasonable.



      Miscellaneous Requirements: 
    • A manager must always maintain a telephone for store employees to get in contact with manager at any time.
    • Manager must have reliable and timely source of transportation at all times.
    • Manager must have a valid driver’s license.
    • Manager is subject to criminal background and/or drug screening on a regular basis.
