Job Description

Customer Care Representative

Shifts: Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Pay: $13.00 - $14.50/hr.

Location: Downtown Austin, TX

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Customer service representatives work in a fast-paced environment answering incoming inquiries through telephone calls and email from employees and retirees with questions regarding health, dental, and life insurance benefits, retirement eligibility, and retirement or benefits problem resolution issues. Customer service representatives educate employees and retirees and promote other services that assist members with retirement account information, insurance benefits, and retirement eligibility. Work is performed under the supervision of the Customer Service Supervisor with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.  

  • Efficiently answers questions, educates, and counsels customers regarding  employee benefits programs, including insurance, retirement, online tools, and any related matters.
  • Communicates tactfully and provides information in a clear and concise manner while adjusting communication style to match customers with various levels of knowledge and experience.
  • Uses sound decision-making and judgment skills and appropriately applies and interprets existing laws, pending legislation, rules, policies and procedures.
  • Promotes related tools and services.
  • Provides exceptional customer service as defined by contact center guidelines for customer service.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Graduated from an accredited senior high school or equivalent, plus 60 semester hours of college credit. Each year of experience over the required minimum required can be substituted for one year (30 semester hours) of required college credit.
  • Two years customer service experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge and experience effectively use of Windows based computer software, including Microsoft Office, and Internet Explorer.
  • Prefer ability to type at least 40 words per minute
