Plant Manager

Job Description

 

Summary

Position is responsible for leading the Reidsville, North Carolina manufacturing operation with an emphasis on

safety, quality and efficiency to meet his goals. Coordinates recommended changes with the Site Manager to ensure

congruence of company and customer goals.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Supervises overall manufacturing including batch preparations, packaging, stressing safety, quality and efficiency

to the highest degree.

• Supervises the development of production supervisors including:

A. good manufacturing practices

B. safety for personnel

C. maintaining equipment and plant site

D. organizational/planning shifts

• Facilitates continual improvement in production and troubleshoots daily manufacturing problems.

A. Works to reduce manufacturing costs to meet the corporate goals to remain a low cost producer.

B. Initiates and develops new engineering standards and operating procedures.

C. Engages in continuing development of new and existing processes and prod-ucts. This position is authorized to

make modifications to batch procedures and minor formula adjustments based upon customer complaints, specific

manufacturing problems or a perceived opportunity for improvement. Commu-nicates with Development personnel on

ongoing production problems and initi-ates long term lab requests only when necessary.

D. Participates in Critical Process Reviews and new product introductions to manufacturing.

E. Participates in the review of batch data resulting from product compositional and procedural changes.

F. Writes and/or revises SOP’s for new existing products.

G. Works to rework rejected batches as well as slow moving raw materials and products.

H. Works to investigate customer quality complaints, taking corrective action where necessary. Interface with

customer and technical sales representatives as needed to resolve quality questions and complaints.

Other Duties

• Collects and organizes data for statistical analysis.

• Can participate in phases of capital and major maintenance projects, including equipment design, budgeting,

procurement, construction, start up and operation.

• Assists wherever possible in the training and development of operators.

• Participates in batch making and packaging when necessary. This will require the ability to drive a forklift, operate

production equipment and handle drums weighing up to 500 pounds.

• Directs each individual employee, as needed toward a specific task or duty and ensures they are given proper

instructions and materials to carry out the task.

• Carries out various administrative functions, such as preparing employee time cards and annual evaluations.

• Ensures that all personnel under his supervision are fully trained to carry out all ISO 9000:2000 procedures.

• Performs other tasks as assigned by the Site Manager.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with a

minimum of 4 years experience in chemical plant engineering and/or operations. This position requires profi-ciency in

modern management practices, and state-of-the-art engineering skills, team building, empowerment, excellent

personnel and communication skills, computer
