Job Description

Payroll Specialist

Job Purpose:

The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for enabling HR administrative functions to be processed in the most effective, accurate and efficient method through the company’s HR Information Systems.


  • Act as a HRIS subject-matter expert to users in order to provide insight into system activities related to Payroll; communicate potential risks associated with potential changes to scope or functionality
  • Identify areas for improvement to Forever 21’s HRIS data management processes and discuss HR data structure management with internal stakeholders to improve current data management procedures
  • Assist in closing bi-weekly payroll for Forever 21 by performing all data collection, reconciliation, and application of payroll policies
  • Partner with internal departments including HR and Accounting to understand data management needs and to implement an HRIS system that meets company requirements
  • Implement any new payroll policies or procedures to ensure that Forever 21’s global payroll processes are up-to-date according to federal, state and local regulations
  • Produce Payroll reports including analysis of employee time records, state compliance audits, tax requirement audits and quarterly/annual tax accounting reports
  • Partner with the IT department to ensure that any required changes to system structure/functionality are executed

Job Requirements

Payroll Specialist

Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications:

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a similar field
  • Must have 3-5 years of previous experience in a Payroll or HRIS environment in a role maintaining responsibility for data management system administration
  • Strong technical background with Lawson suites including functional knowledge, technical operations and Lawson system structuring is essential
  • Lawson Product Certification is a plus
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills
  • Must be a team player and be able to collaborate on cross-functional projects
