JOB DESCRIPTION

II. POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the Maternal Child Services Clinical Director, the Clinical Nurse III of Maternal Child Services will be responsible for the clinical coordination, planning and continuous Performance Improvement of all unit activities on a 24-hour basis. This role encompasses, but is not limited to: A.Education,clinical skills, staffing, research, and competency evaluation (clinical and age specific) of employees. B.Provides clinical direction for the specific nursing unit. To provide leadership on the definition, development, and growth of nursing practice within the unit and throughout the community. C. Ensures adherence to standards in the Maternal Child Services on Hospital Administrative Standards, Human Resource Standards, and the Department of Nursing Standards with collaboration of the Chief Nursing officer in unusual situations. D. Functions as a resource person for staff members and Developments and oversees education opportunities of individual members of Nursing staff with a focus on promoting clinical competence in the provision of the Maternal Child Services nursing care services.

JOB REQUIREMENTS


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


A. Current licensure in Texas as a Registered Nurse.



B. Bachelor’s of Nursing degree required, orworking


   towards a Bachelors or Masters Degree in nursing


   within six (6) months of hire.



C.  Minimum of five (5) years of clinical practicewith


   emphasis on leadership and management experience


   preferred.



D.     Previous experience in Maternal Child Services n


   nursing preferred.



E. Current verification of competency in Cardiopulmonary


   Resuscitation and maintained throughout employment.



F. Neonatal Resuscitation Certification within 90days


   of hire, and maintained throughoutemployment.



G. Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification within 90


   days of hire if working in Labor and Delivery,and


   maintained throughout employment.



H. S.T.A.B.L.E certification within 90 days of hire if


   working in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit or Labor and


   Delivery, and maintained throughout employment.



I. AWHONN Intermediate and Advanced Fetal Monitoring


   within Six (6) months of hire, if working in Labor


   and Delivery, and maintained throughout employment.
