Job Description

Analyst, Underwriting & Report

Transform claim data into information that can be used to assess and improve business operations.
Responsible for analysis of group profitability and production cost analysis.      
Essential Responsibilities:
1.     Preparation of the quarterly profit and loss reporting by client.
2.     Prepare trend analysis and cost projections as requested.
3.     Maintain the actuarial datamart (Sagent) and produce reports to be used for contract negotiations and business decisions for HVHC enterprise, Provider network and Managed Care customers.
4.     Review and prepare non-standard or exceptional client utilization analysis – calculating expected income vs. actual premiums paid for major clients.
5.     Provide analytical support to Finance, Client Management and other DV or HVHC Associates to meet monthly financial reporting deadlines, client requests for non-standard reports, justification for rate increases, and cost projections or forecasts on an ad hoc basis.
6.     Create vertical market reports, a.k.a. Client Reference Guide and monitor trends in claim usage to support pricing program and fully insured rate development.
7.     Develop and maintain monthly reports for contractual obligations with Providers and/or Managed Care clients.
8.     Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of the data elements, data definitions and data relationships used in required business analysis and report development.
9.     Responsible for development and provide support of renewal rates as well as RFP responses and documentation to support both for umbrella relationships.
10. Assist with underwriting of capitated rates as needed.
11. Prepare COBRA rates for self-insured upon request.

Job Requirements

•         Bachelors Degree required in business or related field
Experience & Background:

•         Minimum of 3 years of accounting, finance or underwriting experience

•         Strong analystical skills, independent decision maker

•         Actuarial and/or cost accounting for Healthcare company preferred

•         Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
