CBO Cash Receipts Specialist

Job Description

Summary: Perform all duties related to the timely and efficient posting of account receivables for Skilled Nursing Facilities in a central billing office (CBO) environment. Supervise, coordinate and perform centralized cash posting functions in accordance with Federal, State, and local regulations while ensuring sustained financial integrity and fiscal guidance.


Environment:

Work will be performed primarily indoors and on carpeted and/or tiled floors. Work will also be performed routinely around other co-workers, healthcare staff, and guests.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

•Meet physical and sensory requirements stated below, and be able to work in the described environment.

•Identify and participate in process improvement initiatives that improve the customer experience, enhance work flow, and/or improve the work environment.

•Verify and key insurance and resident payments in a timely and accurate manner.

•Balance posting entries to Daily Deposit in IHN (Integrated Health Network).

•Balance to Bank Summary Sheet daily, weekly and monthly.

•Identify and report any payment discrepancies to Director of Business Services.

•Verify and process write offs per company policy.

•Verify and process any adjustments for disallowed charges billed to participating payors.

•Research and resolve all cash posting problems.

•Post refunds to resident accounts.

•Post adjustments for Medicare-A Bad Debt.

•Process penny adjustments.

•Forward any denials or payment anomalies to the CBO for that payor.

•Update tracking log for denied or reduced payment claims.

•Provide weekly private collection updates.

•Provide weekly credit balance updates.

•Identify and report trends for each facility that may provide insight into payment challenges.

•Communicate updates weekly to department staff.

•Prepare and submit reports on a timely basis, as required and directed by the Director of Accounts Receivable, CFO, the company, and governmental agencies.

•Other special projects and duties, as assigned.



Job Requirements



•High school diploma or GED required or equivalent related work experience.

•Minimum of one (1) year experience in long term care and/or hospital billing experience and education.

•Knowledge and understanding of billing practices within the long term care industry.

•Must be current with industry regulations and compliance issues.

•Knowledge and ability to operate billing software.

•Effective verbal and written English communication skills.

•Demonstrated intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook, Internet and Intranet navigation.

•Highest level of professionalism with the ability to maintain confidentiality.

•Ability to communicate at all levels of organization and work well within a team environment in support of company objectives.

•Customer service oriented with the ability to work well under pressure.

•Strong attention to detail and accuracy, excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize, coordinate and simultaneously maintain multiple projects with high level of quality and productivity.

•Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

•Ability to work with minimal supervision, take initiative and make independent decisions.

•Ability to deal with new tasks without the benefit of written procedures.

•Approachable, flexible and adaptable to change.

•Overtime required, as deemed necessary.

•Function independently, and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with stakeholders and vendors.

Physical and Sensory Requirements:

•Moderate physical activity:

oRequires handling of average-weight objects up to twenty five (25) pounds.

oSitting for more than two (2) hours at a time.

oRequires consistent computer work with repetitive typing and concentrating on computer screen.
