Job summary: 
Reporting to the   Operations Manager the  Support Engineer is responsible for Level II and Level III production management of Windows OS escalations and implementation tasks for numerous hosts in a Data Center environment. Provide daily technical support for customer issues as identified in the Remedy Call Management System.
  Wiill “own” problems through resolution.  You will respond to all remedy tickets in an expedient manner, providing clear and informative status and resolution entries and deliver quality closure with the customer.  You will collaborate with other teams to identify the root cause of customer issues and implement sound and seamless solutions.
The Windows Engineer will be in charge of maintaining a Windows-based server environment with over 1500 servers.   Some responsibilities include.

•          Building servers with any version of Windows on HP, Dell, and Sun hardware

•          VMware and virtualization builds. ESX cluster components, setup and support

•          Configuring and supporting Remote Desktops services on Windows servers

•          Setting up and supporting Windows print servers and printers

•          Installing, managing and maintaining Active Directory with and without DNS integration

•          Monitoring server performance, raising concerns related to performance and resolving OS related issues by OS tuning and making hardware scaling recommendations to resolve performance or stability issues.

•          Troubleshooting Windows crashes, running debuggers and documenting issues

•          Advanced hardware troubleshooting and replacement on Windows server systems

•          Project creation and execution for firmware, OS, driver, and hardware upgrades

•          Document effort spent in our Remedy ARS for working on Trouble Tickets and Change Requests

•          Perform changes to customer systems while following strict guidelines for SSAE16/SAS70 compliance and customer directions/requirements

•          HP Data Protector, Evault, and Trend are pluses

•          Quickly respond to all Remedy tickets with meaningful status entries, resolution descriptions and closure updates.

•          Communicate with customers from problem identification through problem resolution on a regular interval and in a manner appropriate for the customer

•          Knowledge and experience with setup and support of Enterprise Storage systems is a plus.

•          Work change window events around NaviSite’s Data Center procedures

•          Work with other operational support teams to improve processes

•          Required to participate in on-call rotation

Job Requirements

5-7 years of relevant professional experience; excellent technical skills; the ability to communicate effectively; work well as a team; handle responsibilities independently; knowledgeable of the capabilities and limitations of infrastructure.  Expertise in Windows 2003-2012 and VMware ESX components. Knowledge of HP, Dell, and Sun hardware.

•          BS Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or equivalent.

•          Microsoft Certifications –MCSE preferred

•          VMware Virtualization experience is a must.

•          Expertise in modern networking technology is a must

•          Strong written and oral communication skills are a must

•          Citrix experience a plus

•          UNIX and Linux experience a plus

•          Experience with Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) a plus

•          Strong project/program management experience a plus
