We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Risk Analyst specialized in Corporate Insurance for our San Antonio, TX facility.  This person must have the ability to manage a corporate insurance program for a fortune 500 company.

PURPOSE OF JOB
Assists in managing the evolving global insurance program, from both a strategic and administrative perspective. Provides risk management support for a line of business or staff agency in key risk identification, measurement and aggregation, and the understanding and management of risk through appropriate practices and processes. Assesses and mitigates enterprise and business un exposures through the identification of key and emerging risks and evaluates alignment with risk strategy and appetite. Monitors the risk and control environment to ensure that exposures are kept at acceptable levels and may consult on risk mitigation plans.

JOB DUTIES

  • Partners with key stakeholders in the business to identify, assess, aggregate and document risks and controls, including risks associated with new or modified products, services, distribution channels, regulations and third party operations. May present findings to various levels of leadership. Communicates results of risk assessments to governance committees, business process owners and various levels of leadership.
  • Contributes to the implementation of new risk policies, practices, appetites and solutions to ensure holistic understanding and management of risks according to industry best practice. Enhances strategies, tools, and methodologies to measure, monitor, and report risks.
  • Applies intermediate knowledge to utilize or produce analytical material for discussions with cross-functional teams to understand business objectives and influence solution strategies.
  • Effectively contributes in cross-functional teams to identify, assess, aggregate and mitigate current and emerging risk events.
  • Effectively contributes to projects that impact the organization.
  • Supports the formulation of stress test plans for a line of business or the enterprise including the evaluation of results, and framing of
    contingency plans in partnership with key business stakeholders.
  • May support model risk management through model documentation review, assessment of performance monitoring, model validation, and use implementation. Supports internal control processes around model development, implementation and validation. May define model governance process and roles, responsibility as applicable to the line of business.
  • Partners with business areas to evaluate process or control breakdowns, inherent risk exposures and triggers, and conducts root cause analysis using. Promotes and influences sustainability of the risk control environment. Supports the design and evaluation of the control environment within business processes.
  • Guides risk owners to adhere to corporate risk management policies pertaining to risks and controls, internal/external loss data, key risk indicators and scenario analysis data.
  • Participates in and supports internal/external audits, regulatory reviews and rating agency requests.
  • Performs all other tasks as assigned.


JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Business, Finance or other related field or four years of directly related work experience (in lieu of a degree) required.
  • 4 years risk management experience OR 4 years operations experience in a relevant functional area to include banking, insurance, financial services, audit, project management, public accounting or other related operational area OR advanced degree or designation in a quantitative discipline relevant to risk management and 2+ years relevant risk management work experience.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Business or Finance.
  • One or more of the following designations:
    Associate in Risk Management (ARM or ARM-E)
    Professional Risk Manager (PRM)
    Financial Risk Manager (FRM)
    International Certificate in Banking Risk and Regulation (ICBRR)
    Six Sigma designation
    Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
    Actuarial designation (FSA, ASA, FCAS, ACAS, CERA).
  • Risk management experience in a complex institution and/or highly matrixes environment related to banking, insurance or financial services.
  • Experience documenting processes and/or experience in a control environment such as internal audit or compliance.
  • Experience managing complex processes to include process engineering or project management experience.
  • Industry-related analytical experience in actuarial, pricing, underwriting, corporate finance, or product management.
  • IT application knowledge.
  • IT application control knowledge.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Working knowledge of business industry practices and guidelines.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of risk management principles, tools and applicable systems.
  • Strong problem solving abilities and research skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively work with both internal and external partners in a highly collaborative, matrixes environment.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills and decision making abilities.
  • Proactively identifies potential concerns and follows-up to resolve issues.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Excel and PowerPoint.
