JOB DESCRIPTION

We are currently seeking talented Director Credit Loss Forecasting - Stress Testing for our San Antonio, TX facility. 

PURPOSE OF JOB

This role will support the Banks Stress testing program, including Dodd Frank Stress Testing including generating Credit Loss Forecasts, including ALLL and Mortgage Repurchase forecasts and complete results packages for review/approval and stress test scenario development for the banks stress testing requirements, including Dodd Frank Act. The Director of Quantitative Risk Management is accountable for the development and mentoring of a high performing team that conducts and develops quantitative and analytic models, assessments and/or applications in support of risk management efforts that assess the market, credit and/or operational risks of new and existing financial products. Influences processes at both the business unit and enterprise level and leads and sets the agenda for risk management deliverables. Responsible for influencing complex decisions at both the enterprise and business unit level utilizing advanced analytical results that assess future risks, opportunities, and effectiveness. Leads or provides direction to cross-functional teams to achieve objectives across multiple business units or Centers of Excellence. Participates in and supports internal and external audits, regulatory reviews, and rating agency requests.

JOB DUTIES

  • Leads teams that utilize advanced analytics to assess future risk, opportunities, and effectiveness. Translates results into meaningful solutions to enhance decision making. Presents results to various levels of leadership and influences key decisions that have business unit or enterprise impact.
  • Utilizes industry best practices to quantify risk and aggregate exposures. Oversees the development of complex systems and programs that measure aggregate risk exposures.
  • May oversee model validation and model governance efforts.
  • Applies innovative and scientific/quantitative analytical approaches to draw conclusions and make recommendations to answer business objectives and drive change.
  • Oversees the production of advanced analytical material for discussions with cross-functional teams to understand complex business objectives and influences solution strategies.
  • Effectively communicates analytical results, findings and solutions to governance committees, senior leaders, regulatory bodies and the USAA Board of Directors. May serve in a lead capacity in governance committees.
  • Interacts with internal and external stakeholders during audits, regulatory reviews and rating agency requests. Manages vendor relationships and evaluates needs pertaining to workforce augmentation.
  • Educates risk owners on risk management best practices and may work with other risk functions in the development and implementation of risk controls.
  • Performs all other tasks as needed.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences or other quantitative discipline or four years of directly related work experience (in lieu of a degree) required.
  • 6 years related quantitative analysis experience in a discipline relevant to risk management to include statistical analysis, modeling, mathematics or other quantitative discipline OR PhD in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or other quantitative discipline and 4+ years work experience in a quantitative discipline relevant to risk management.
  • At least 2 years demonstrated leadership or managerial experience.
  • Bank Industry experience.

Preferred

  • Advanced degree in a Financial Services related field such as Business, Math, Statistics, or Risk Management.
  • Demonstrated skill in one of the following designations:
    o Associate in Risk Management (ARM or ARM-E)
    o Professional Risk Manager (PRM)
    o Financial Risk Manager (FRM)
    o International Certificate in Banking Risk and Regulation (ICBRR)
    o Six Sigma designation
    o Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
    o Actuarial designation (FSA, ASA, FCAS, ACAS, CERA).
  • Risk management experience in a complex institution and/or highly matrixed environment related to banking, insurance or financial services.
  • Experience documenting processes and/or experience in a control environment such as internal audit or compliance.
  • Additional experience managing complex processes to include process engineering or project management experience.
  • Developing Asset quality outlook of the retail credit portfolio and potential adverse effects.
  • Aides in identification and active monitoring of portfolio weaknesses/risks.
  • Generate Credit Loss Forecasts, including ALLL and Mortgage Repurchase forecasts and complete results packages for review/approval.
  • Create top-of-house (Bank) loss forecast roll forward summary results.
  • Leads stress test scenario development for the banks stress testing requirements, including Dodd Frank Act.
  • Works across product and organizations lines to ensure scenarios reflect appropriate risk profile and idiosyncratic risk.
  • Completes data templates (DFAST 14A) for Credit and Risk.
  • Supports the development and implementation of a robust risk identification, measurement, mitigation, monitoring and reporting framework.
  • Partners with Finance, Credit Risk and other horizontal lines to ensure all various forecasting efforts tie together and demonstrate a coordinated unified submission document.

***Selected candidates will attend and complete the Management Development School program in San Antonio, TX, during their first six months in position.***
