Performs various patient care activities and related nonprofessional services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients. Bathes, dresses and undresses patients, and assists with personal hygiene. May serve and collect food trays, and provide between-meal nourishment. Transports and drapes patients for examinations and treatments. Takes and records temperatures, pulse, etc., as directed. Changes bed linen and runs errands. May clean, sterilize, store, and prepare treatment trays and other supplies. Assists nursing service personnel with a variety of other patient care duties.

QUALIFICATIONS: A. EDUCATION:1. Must have a high school diploma or GED. B. EXPERIENCE:1. Previous experience in a hospital setting is preferred. C. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:1. CPR certification is required. D. EQUIPMENT/SKILLS:1. Demonstrate good communication, interpersonal, and public relations skills; handles anger, frustration, or irritation in a mature manner.2. Demonstrates flexibility in adapting to changes in work situations and schedule adjustments. 3. Must demonstrate the mental and physical ability to perform the tasks as outlined in this position description. E. WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:1. Works in a temperature controlled, smoke free facility. 2. Position requires a significant amount of walking, standing, and lifting. 3. May be subject to strained muscles, bruises, cuts or scratches and possible exposure to infectious disease. 4. May be subject to noise and frequent interruptions. F. OTHER:1. Performs other duties as assigned. G. Must also successfully complete the pre-employment/post job offer health screening examination, and the annual screening each year thereafter as an employee.
