Our client, a large privately held manufacturing company, seeks a staff accountant. This position works under the day to day supervision of the Accounting Supervisor. -Conduct in-depth analyses of Operating, Selling and G&A expense activity through research and investigation to ensure that accounting transactions are timely classified and properly recorded in accordance with corporate policies and U.S. GAAP. -Heavily responsible for different reporting tasks, which include: preparation of monthly schedules for various ledger accounts and expense categories, creation of ad hoc reports according to the needs of management, and assistance in generating monthly Financial Statements and other accounting reports. -Primarily in charge of designing, developing, and troubleshooting new department reports using MS Excel and Excel based report writers. Must be able to demonstrate strong skills capable of producing complex reports while effectively working with others to understand reporting requirements. -Maintain various MS Excel spreadsheets and templates used by the Accounting department for reporting and calculating expenses, taxes, and accruals to ensure that they are current and safeguarded against calculation errors. -Complete all month end tasks accurately and timely. Provide assistance to others in the team, as needed, to aid in the month end close process. -Perform variance analyses on P&L and Balance Sheet accounts to understand activity trends over different time periods. Communicate these findings to management through clear and concise variance explanations. -Prepare and post journal entries while understanding their potential impact on the General Ledger. -Advise plant on proper classification of operating costs and on interpretation of charging guidelines. -Contribute to improvements towards accounting best practices for the company by evaluating current procedures and making recommendations that lead to cost reductions and time savings. Collaborate with other departments to develop and implement new accounting policies and procedures. -Timely coordinate with other groups to gather, organize, and prepare required documents used in external audits. -Carry out special projects and other duties as directed.
Job Requirements
-Bachelors in accounting required -Must have 1+ years GL and month end close experience -CPA candidate a plus
